It was very easy to see an option for those that don't have a .EDU address; it's clearly stated right on the site in the post's link: "No .edu email? No problem.
Click here to learn how you can still qualify. Offer terms apply." That link takes you to an option that uses the promo code "non_edu_promocode", which worked fine for me. Perhaps "Fundamentals of Reading Web Pages" should be a mandatory course.

Just a note that I had to add exceptions to my ad- and tracking-blockers to get through the "onboarding" process and to go through the cancellation ordeal.

The site is clearly designed to be misleading in a lot of ways (four steps to cancel, each of which makes you think you're making a terrible, irreversible mistake). As many others have stated (thanks!), you can "cancel", and you'll still receive your free year. I'd recommend that everyone do this immediately. They're clearly planning to make a lot of money off students who forget and will be charged $180 in a year.

I canceled right after signing up will continue to have access for one year.

Also, this is from their TOS: "You may cancel a Recurring Subscription at any time, but if you cancel your subscription before the end of the current subscription period, we will not refund any subscription fees already paid to us. Following any cancellation, however, you will continue to have access to the service through the end of your current subscription period.

How can we cancel? I keep going to manage my subscription however I do not see a cancel ability.
You will have to use a laptop to cancel the membership and also remove your credit card after you cancel.

Signed up. I'm no student, but am a faculty member. Worked. Simply requires a .edu email, regardless of how or why you have one.
You need to access the edu email I guess

I got a receipt for $180 but no charge to my card (according to Apple Pay). Thanks! I've really been wanting to check a few of these out.

You can sign up to any community college. You get the .edu before you sign up for classes etc

For those of you who signed up for this, did it say "TOTAL BILLED TODAY: $180" on the payment pop up? I've gone through my .edu email and verification and everything looks good up until that point.
I actually got charged $180 and had to call.

Menu -> Settings

at the very bottom where it says "Your subscription will automatically renew on Sep 17, 2021", there's a Cancel link.
