That's not true at all. I've purchased a few different LG UltraWide monitors and the speakers can be surprisingly decent, both in volume and sound quality. My roomie was using his 34" to play some music the other day, and everyone in the house was wowed at the fact that his LG monitor was producing the sound.
I've owned this monitor for about two years now. Got it on sale on amazon for around about $100 more. Works great with Xbox One, the clarity even on 1080p is amazing. No tearing or artifacts. So much color detail and color range on this monitor. Large enough to do side by side or even three full screen webpages/applications comfortably. Small enough to fit in a single desk monitor space footprint. On screen control switch toggle on the bottom of the monitor takes a second to get used to but you can customize it and it's pretty cool once you learn how to use it. Plenty of ports to connect your favorite devices. I primarily used this for gaming and it makes such a difference at this Ultra Wide 21:9 ratio when it comes to immersion in the game. With the lights out it's like playing in a theater. Definitely will hit the mark on multi tasking and light enough you can pick it up with one hand and reposition it if need be for a presentation or something. I really like the newer brackets on this monitor stand, much sturdier over the previous model and the glossy back is a nice improvement. Solid choice IMO for the price if you're looking to do a big upgrade to the office in a small form factor.
edit: on the speakers, for single room/small room use these are fine, if you're gonna try and run a home theater off it in your bedroom or something then no, definitely consider a separate speaker setup.
I completely agree. People are getting too picky over specs vs actual real-world usage scenarios, to the point where they quickly dismiss these gems based on assumptions alone. When actually using these monitors, they are totally awesome and give room to sit back and enjoy the media experience. On top of that, for PC gamers, the resolution is high enough for a solid gaming experience, but low enough to keep from sandbagging performance. And at this price point, I'm totally in.
I like what you're saying about console gaming too. Although consoles don't support this resolution, I am very happy being able to play with my XB1 and PC on the same screen without the need for external speakers. Totally ideal for college dorm situations. And if I want better/louder sound that won't piss off roommates, a headset is the way to go anyway.

Built in speakers are trash. If you're going to spend the money on something like this, get yourself some decent speakers or headphones. Even the cheapest speakers at Walmart sound 10x better than speakers built into a monitor.

Well hey now if it's for office work etc who cares if the quality is bad. If it's for gaming or movies then yea get something better, $39 logitech speakers will sound worlds better

i like this screen and i'm considering it for a work monitor, great speakers are not necessary for what i need.

Resolution will not be fun. 34 needs minimum 1440p
I partially disagree. This size is still perfectly fine for watching Netflix in a native 21:9 for supported content, and games also look great. Although text in Word documents and the like isn't as crisp as a QHD UltraWide, obviously, it's beyond passable. It's not like people will be sitting a foot away anyway because it's such a large screen. I find that sitting back maybe three feet or more in my chair is necessary anyway because it's easier on the eyes to play games and without having to turn my head back and forth as much compared to sitting closer. That's to be expected though due to the nature of UltraWide displays.
In terms of what this might be compared to, height-wise, it's similar to a 24" 16:9 monitor, which is a very standard for 1080p, so users new to the UltraWide can expect very decent quality displays at 2560x1080.

I have 2 of these and this is a great monitor. https://www.costco.com/lg-32%22-c...76512.html
Similar to the one posted here but a 32" instead. Hope this helps on some other options as well.
