Check them out...they have better sale prices a few times a year.
I picked up the Sx420 for $50 a couple years ago and just leave it in my car....I also let my kids use it. Its not fast or a pocket camera, but actually takes decent pics with the zoom. I've been able to pull over and snap good pics of wild life with in 100 yards of the road. Its also fairly light weight. $50 was a steal.
I also picked up the m100 and 22mm lense for a walk around camera. They've had it refurbed with the 15-45mm for less than $300. With the 22mm lens it can actually fit in your pocket (like a brick). There's a variety of lenses for the M series including 3rd party brands. Ive had it for a couple years and I've been pleased with the picture quality of the 22mm. It's small for a
APS-C sensor Camera.
If you do decide to get any of those cameras I suggest getting a second battery for your road trip...they're usually $10 or less on Amazon.
My other cam is a Nikon D750...its huge. Lately I only pull it out for 400mm pics of backyard owls.
My cell gets the most use for random pics, but I still get better quality from my real cameras...many will argue all you need is a cell.
