That would be a sweet deal then. I know I added 4 new lines with TMO thru Costco in July. I summited my rebates for $100 each line that same night. Then I ordered 4 new phones from TMO online by doing a upgrade on those lines. Well anyways those lines qualified for T-mobile current promos because it was done within the 14 day remorse period.

I bought 2 iPhone SE 2020 for $200 off each, a one plus 8 for $350 off and a iPhone 11 for $700 off with eligible port in plus trading in a iPhone 8. So most people on Slickdeals told me I would not get both Promo. Anyways I just checked on rebate status yesterday and I was approved for all 4 rebates and it said mailing date was 9-17. I'm pretty stoked about this deal.

Also to add, I tried to move my less than a week old visible number (ported from GV) and T-mobile still saw it as a google number. On freecarrier though, it was showing as verizon. So their data refresh times might have a lag.
thanks for the info. on freecarrier a cricket number is showing as Cricket Wireless ATT SVR whereas an att number is showing as AT+T Mobility

also, verizon, xfinity and visible numbers all show as Verizon Wireless. so i guess visible has better chances to get approved compared to cricket.

The Cricket eligibility seems to be getting mixed opinions, at least as of a few days ago. Many people state MVNOs are not qualified for the deal, but I wasn't able to find this in the rebate terms.

The chat agent I used to sign up with TMO stated Cricket qualified, but a second chat agent I spoke with later said Cricket wouldn't qualify...

So the question is, do you take a chance and try to port from Cricket, or do you port to ATT first and then quickly port to Cricket afterwards? And if you port to ATT first and port out quickly, can this being done without being charged for service?

Also, how long does it take to confirm if the $250 BYOD rebate was approved? I have five lines. Thinking I could do one tonight (Just received SIMs today) and see if it gets approved to determine if I do the others. If it doesn't get approved, then I could port the other four lines to ATT first.
If you want to port to ATT, the biggest challenge you may face is getting the order approved from ATT. ATT orders are hit/miss. High chance of getting order rejected. Even if the order is approved, you have to wait 2 days to get a SIM card and Activate. The next challenge is how quickly you can port out of ATT? If i remember correctly, it takes 2-3 days for you to set the PIN on the account. And also, ATT does HARD CREDIT Check, so think again before you move to ATT.

If you ask me, i suggest don't tell them the carrier name, rather give the T-Mobile rep just Number and ask if the number is eligible, and also save the transcript.

If you still not convinced, better jump to Verizon, following are the advantages
  1. No HARD check for BYOD.
  2. You can select Pickup SIM at local Verizon. Even you can grab SIM from Apple and then place the BYOD order at Verizon.
  3. Once the line is activated, you can port out within 3 days to avoid any kind of charges.

att only charges for the no of days the line is active(pro-rated) on the current plan plus taxes. sim is free.

processing time for rebate is 6-8 weeks. so you may have to decide quickly about the other 4 lines
Is the processing time just to receive the actual rebates, or is that the time it takes to determine if it gets approved? Trying to determine how long I'd need to keep ATT service active. (Or my existing service if considering the option below)

Another option would be to port in four ebay ATT numbers and keep four of my lines active with Cricket until I get the four rebates. Then replace the four ebay numbers with the Cricket numbers. Figure I'd be at $100/month for the service for the four lines, so subtract the service and cost of ebay numbers from the $1000 in rebates.

hi, i know it's pretty late now.. but if i just get a type-1 code.
can i do following:
1. go ebay get the 4 att port in number
2. enter one of att to pre-register the type-1 code
3. then go to tmobile store to go a new account (Magneta 4 lines for $140 before hook up discount, $112 after discount).
**the reason to go to tmo store so that i can buy/get the sim there and do the port all at once.

At the store, most likely they will charge you $30 per line (call it Activation/Assist or whatever) but the SIMs are free. That will eat into your profit, but still better than no profit.

AT&T has an on-going deal like this since May or earlier. But limited to 2 $250 GCs per account. Read the whole thread to learn about its "warts".

They changed the terms. I got an promo email since I have shopped cases at att.com. Now it says 75 days to claim reward instead of 45. Bye Bye ATT.

According to the terms, it takes 6-8 weeks to get the rebate approved. That's basically the minimum amount of service time they want you to pay for.

Thanks! I also just saw in the rebate FAQ page that says something about not checking the status for 72 hours. So it seems like you may potentially get an approved status within 72 hours, and then get the actual rebates within the 6-8 weeks if your service is still active.

I still see 45 days. 75 days is the timeline to redeem the reward after receiving it.

Redeem reward card within 75 days of receiving email or letter with redemption instructions (must maintain active service for at least 45 days to receive instructions and until fulfillment).

Can you post a picture of the new terms? I just looked at the BYOD info on AT&T web site and it still says 45 days. The 75 days is when you must redeem the rewards after being approved.

My bad. You are correct. I just quickly glanced through the terms and just saw 75. I wanted to see if they increased it to 4 rebates per acct as opposed to two.

Thanks

You are correct. I was glancing through the rewards term to see if they changed it to 4 seeing what TMO is doing. And only saw 75.

Thanks and Rep'd. That's true less profit ($30x4=$120) is better than no profit.
I wonder, if after i pre-register the type 1 code with one of the att number i get from ebay
then go online just open a new account (magneta 4 lines for $140)
i am a little bit confuse on this: BYOD $250 promo expire on Oct/01; but we are allow to port in within 30 days.
So, can i still open a new account online, then wait for the sim card to arrive, then call to port-in the 4 att number assuming already after oct/01.

will it work, too?

Thanks again!
