Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Type 3 code. If you have been a very loyal T-Mob customer for a long time (16 plus years here), you might try to contact them via phone. I got mine after talking to a representative. He got the code for me from another employee higher up. I am assuming someone in sales dept.

i'm trying to see if this is true. That's what the rep told me but since inside code ends at 9/30 and phone will be here after that date, i'm nervous
Spoke to rep, they said it's by purchase date and not phone delivery date.

Then you have 30 days to do the type 3 promo

What's the best way to order - online or through customer service?

I tried online and they are giving $125 for my S9 Plus. Not $500.

How do I make sure I'll get the $500 credit?

So you mean, I can do it without opening any phone. I am already using Samsung device with Shop Samsung app on it.
I think it has to be on phone of new device.

Is S10 worth trading in for this?
I traded my S10 for this. You pay about $200+ including taxes for which you get an additional year of warranty and SW support.

Glasstic back vs glass back is not much of a downside for me as I put in a case anyway.

The only down side is 2GB less Ram and I assume should be OK unless you are power user who frequently use log of RAM hungry apps.

I have the iPhone XR with a device balance of $30
Do I need to pay it off completely before trading in?
Would you recommend this phone over the iPhone XR?

what'd you decide? My wife has a Pixel 3 (and I have a Pixel 4). I was thinking her phone is getting laggy and it may be time to update. But like you said, this is a big phone (1" larger). It would be nice if there were a comparably sized phone on this deal.
i think it makes sense to get this deal. even if the hookup code doesn't work. can't imagine there will be any other deals that will value my pixel 3 for $500. The funny thing is that I paid $423 including tax in April 2019. I just hope I don't find this thing to big. The last large phone I had was the Note 3.

They won't do it in-store near me.

They just bag it up and ship it out for you, then you get contacted to tell you if you're getting anything in return.

Manager told me they have no clue what will or won't be accepted, and they charge back the store if there's any discrepancy on pricing. i.e., if the store gives you $300 credit, but the techs determine the phone is only worth a $20 gift card, they charge the store $280.

She also told me any visible scratch is a crack, after holding our phones up to the sun, at various angles, she came back and told us she found a single visible scratch on both.

Go buy a cheap S7 or iPhone 7 to trade it the sell your XR for much more.

Just pay it off and request to unlock it. You are good to go.

This is tempting. My OP6T is nowhere worth 500 bucks. I have no reason to upgrade but at this point it seems silly not too for 200 bucks.
