Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

You can definitely use the app or the website to order without a representative, but for peace of mind, I personally recommend a text-based communication with a representative so that you can save the correspondence for reference.

For what it's worth, my EIP agreement does not show the $500 off.

Tofu Vic
the initial EIP agreement doesnt show any promo credits but once the phone appears on your EIP page, it should show:

Promotion: 2020 Samsung Trade P13
Monthly credits remaining:24
Amount of monthly credit:$17.38

FYI, the amount of monthly credit will vary based on device you traded in. I think I got $80 for the Oneplus 6t's i traded in. Its ($500 - initial trade in credit)/24 months = monthly credit

Anyone Cloud Lavender ship yet? Or got confirmation for shipping? Looks like the ship date has been pushed back to October 10-20

I am sorry Tofu Vic, but I am new at this, I found a Type 3 code that works. I understand the process of submitting for the rebate as I have read thru your guide, but is there such a thing as "claiming' the Type 3 code so that no one else can use it?
Unfortunately, you cannot claim or reserve Hookup codes. You'll need your new device's IMEI number in order to actually use the Hookup code.

Take care,
Tofu Vic

Unless they're fibbing. The IMEI is on their EIP page.

honestly the whole gorilla glass stuff is just hype. They will all crack if they are dropped a certain way. Everything else is significant upgrade, especially the 120hz screen. Whats not really spoken about is that the storage is UFS3.0 vs S9 storage is UFS2.1, so not only is the CPU faster than your s9, but everything will launch much quicker as well

I can't disagree about hype and marketing, but the newest version of Gorilla Glass, which is known as Victus or 7, may actually be different [cnet.com]. Victus is used on the newest generation of flagship smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra, which is my daily driver [google.com].

The differences between Gorilla Glass 3, 4, and 5 seem somewhat insignificant. According to the Verge [theverge.com] (emphasis mine):
  • Gorilla Glass 5's product information sheet from 2016, however, is telling. It presents three tests — the Taber Test, the Garnet Test, and the Tumble Test — and their results. In the Taber Test, which measures wear from prolonged abrasion, Gorilla Glass 3 appears visibly less scratched than Gorilla Glass 4, and Gorilla Glass 5 looks to be somewhere in between the two. The Garnet Test, which puts the glass up against sandpaper, presents more visible scratches in some areas and more faded scratches in others for Gorilla Glass 5, making it hard to draw a definite conclusion. Gorilla Glass 3 and 4 look more consistently scratched throughout.

Do you work for Samsung or T-Mobile? Smilie, just kidding. Anyway - I see EIP posted on my account and to my surprise I see $19.88 (477/24) credit already accounted for.

good find on that comparison. I remember watching a video on the differences but couldnt find it. Hopefully, Gorilla Glass 7 IS actually a significant upgrade in durability.

haha nope, I just pump good deals when I see them. The S20 FE is a worthy upgrade to the S9, especially at near $0 cost

The hookup deal ends on 09/30. I don't think you can enter the code until you have the IMEI number but I might be wrong. The phone is supposedly not going to be released until Oct. 2nd.
Submissions can be made up until 11/1/20 and the credit can be redeemed until 12/31/20.

Yeah, I hope so, too. With smartphones - and many technological gadgets that have regular model upgrade releases - a lot of "advances" fall under hype and marketing, and aren't actual upgrades that consumers can detect.

I try to be careful, but I do fall for it sometimes, even if it's just out of curiosity. For example, I purchased the 45-watt charger for the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ I was using, which was barely faster than its 25-watt charger.

oh yeah, the whole higher wattage charging stuff is pure hype. It might save 5 minutes in the end but its not worth the extra cost for the charger or extra heat done on the battery (decreasing battery longevity)
