I have this exact model from Costco in my basement. It's been great as everyone mentioned but some information and suggestions for other potential buyers.

1. Weight - This thing is as heavy as you'd expect. It comes on a pallet with three large boxes and a bunch of boxes full of weights. You might be able to move the pieces by yourself but really should be at least two people. It took 4-5 hours to get fully put together.
2. It comes with more resistance that i expected. I debated on ordering additional weight from the manufacturer Day 1 but glad I didn't.
3. Motion - Smoother than i expected. The cable move really smoothly for a non-commercial piece of equipment. For tricep pushdowns it is a little short but it's doable and there many alternatives.
4. Bench - For me, it is basically garbage. It's far too short for practical use and I ended up getting a regular size one off Amazon that is much better.
5. Wall poster - Since i'm not the only one in the house to use it I got a $10 wall poster from Amazon that has a bunch of different types of exercises.
6. Flooring - Costco had some really nice 1/2" foam gym padding I got to put this and other equipment on. If you're even considering it, doing the flooring first will be a hell of a lot easier than after.

Overall i'm very happy with it as it substitutes many other pieces of equipment, and is quick to switch exercises. Hope this was helpful

I'm not in the market for this item, but I just wanted to give you some karma and appreciation for your post. It makes the decision to buy or not buy, so much easier for all when we have SlickDealer users give their first hand account/experience. That's sometimes better than the reviews you find online.

These types of trainers are typically used for accessory movements. Not sure how or why you would want to squat, bench or deadlift with this. Aside from those, this would be enough resistance for any other type of compound movement.

Planning to put it on first floor of my old Condo (Mostly wooden construction - California). I am thinking of putting some rug on the tile floor (bathroom rug type material so not vey thick) and gym mat on top of it (~1Cm thick interlocking squares) then the machine. Will this be noisy for my downstairs neighbor?
Another option i have is to put it in the room with carpeting (thin pile), gym mat and the machine; would prefer the first option if not noisy.
Need to make sure i don't start getting complaints and I do not bother my nice neighbors!

Yeah, sorta true. But a Smith machine doesn't feel anything like cables to me. Also, the Smith machine allowed me to push a squat or bench press without a spot. Cables just can't handle that kind of weight and don't feel anywhere near the same, to me. Yeah, a Smith machine's is restricted unlike "true free weights". That's probably what you addressed. I just didn't use cables for heavier weight. That's just me. I think we all sorta have our own routine.

If you want to lift free weights and still be safe, I would highly recommend a 2x2" squat rack with safeties. Much more limitless versatility than a smith machine, cheaper and much easier to assemble.

definitely for squats. Not very good for benching, flat, inclines, declines or military's. Squat racks are great for benching and shrugs, but that rack often takes up a crap load of space. Not sure what you mean by 2x2. I normally see noticeably larger than 2 x 2. Foot print at least.
Edit: I just looked up some squat racks. I was unaware of these. I also totally forgot about the pins in the squat rack. Disregard everything I wrote. You can use them for all those things I said you can't. lol! Been awhile.

I hear you. I see cable machines and squat racks/Smith machines as 2 completely different sets of exercise equipment that serve different purposes. I have a power cage that I use for squats, shrugs, various bench presses, pull ups, hanging leg raises, dips, etc, and I can definitely get a full body workout on it. It's also got a single pulley attachment for added versatility. I certainly takes up space, but I've got the luxury of a full 2-car garage as my gym. As others have mentioned, this cable machine is definitely not a replacement for a Smith/rack. It's more for lighter weight accessory or isolation-type exercises. I'm seriously thinking about hopping on this deal, as I often regret not having an adjustable 2-pully set-up.
