I have had my pair for about 10 months and already went through 4 replacements...latest one was today. Been an Apple user for years and never had such a bad experience with their product. I do like these buds but I strongly believe there is a production/design flaw that Apple will probably never admit....

i don't know why anybody would spend 199 on airpods knowing that the battery will stop having reasonable life within 18 months. Awesome if you can expect to get 5 years out of them...18months...come on man. If they had a reasonable priced battery replacement plan..then okay. But they don't.

The next best thing should be out within 18 months and you just upgrade anyways.

Apple+ is like $25 for these for an extra year which is basically the same as battery replacement.
Had no idea what rattlegate was until now, have had pros since last Dec. my issue with them is that they sometimes start cutting in and out on calls and Ive somehow have had trouble connecting with my iPhone.

Using mine with no issues for almost 10 months... It all depends on the units.

18th months is long time.. 5 years from now there will be something new or better product than Airpods.

I'd love to know what headphones in this price range you're expecting 5 years of use out of...it's not exactly high end pricing.
Hopefully Amazon follows suit. They did the last time it was this price at Staples and Amazon followed with the combo AirPod + AppleCare. Maybe Staples is doing this because Prime day.

I got these the last time they were $50 off, because for some reason I had over $120 in rewards checks from ink recycling that I hadn't used yet. I like them more than I thought I would, very much recommended.
You can use staples rewards on AirPods? I thought it excludes apple products now?

Staples coupons cannot be used on apple products. Staples rewards are not treated as coupons (more like a form of payment) and can be used on Apple products.

because manufacturing of this product was moved from China to Vietnam. And if you see in general local worker's work ethics, you'll understand why quality may not be consistently high.

I agree. I could never see myself buying this for that insane price. Cheap urlhasbeenblocked buds works good enough in my iphone.

Mass production is underway however so they are almost guaranteed to be announced at the event in November.
