Definitely go with the 10. No matter which edition it is, they're pretty damn good tablets for the money. Don't expect it to be like an iPad because you sorta do get what you pay for, but I really like mine. They take memory cards too, so storage is not an issue. Kids love it as well.

I have both. I like the larger screen of Hd10 for video content. Got the 8 plus for my son for the wireless charging because Fire tabs usb ports don't hold up well (especially to kid abuse). Same internals. So depends on your use case.

Personal opinion, but save yourself the time and just get a Roku. Both Amazon & Google want to control you. Roku has more things that you can do. I tossed all my firetv's for Roku a few years back and I've never been sorry. I can watch Prime on my Roku so nothing to miss.

I also found the Roku UX/UI to be way better. Anyone can use a Roku.

Easy solution is to buy a Hootoo Travel router (it has NAS functions and an Android app). Works great to serve movies from a USB. will serve multiple devices different stored content simultaneously! great if you have kiddos and tablets or phones.

or just buy a USB OTG cable and hook a USB right up to the Chromecast and use VLC or MX Player.

How fast is your internet. If you don't have >200Mbps down, you won't feel the speed difference (unless you are doing lots of large file transfers or streaming downloaded 4k content).
