Practically anything else is better than this, but there's nothing cheaper than this.
I got the 6 amp model for $12 a couple years ago to use as a backup. For $10 it's a good basic drill though I wouldn't use it for drilling cement or super hard materials. I use it for wood and thin sheet metal.
Bought one of these 5 amp corded drills when I was out of town and suddenly needed one. Nothing wrong with it for basic stuff. Buying two more to give to my daughters who just moved into their first apartments.

I've had a HT 18v cordless for five years that I use every other month or so. Solid enough, not great performance but paid maybe $20 for it. It's $18 at

This isn't a superior drill by any means with a single speed, but would work in a pinch. You'd be better oof spending a few extra bucks for the cordless.

Apples and oranges. For drilling holes here and there, cordless is fine. If you're doing a bigger project, forget it. Or if you're using spades, or drilling anything but wood and plastic.

I have an extensive Ryobi cordless tool collection, including several drill/drivers, but I have always kept a corded drill around.

If for nothing other than using with a thinset/grout/etc. mixing paddle.
