Walmart [walmart.com]has the Kidkraft Castlewood Wooden Play Set on sale for $799. It was $999 last week, and the original price on it was around $1400 (MSRP was like $1700, I think). Regardless, this is the lowest it's been since this time last year, and it's the lowest I've seen it go. So if you're in the market for a swingset, this seems like a decent value.

    I can't emphasize this enough everyone...the tube slide is a fan favorite for the kiddos and an absolute pain in the butt to put together. I still have a scar on my thumb.

    Pro Tip, zip ties. Zip tie several of the hole alignments together to keep the tube from shifting so much as you assemble. Took about 2 hours to connect three pieces together. Then tried zip ties...20 minutes for the last 2 pieces.

    We bought this set last year at this price and are very happy with it. We had it professionally installed since all the reviews were about how difficult it was to put together. It was worth it because the kids are on it constantly and I'm really happy with the quality of the set. Tube slide does seem to attract spiders though, so be aware you'll be clearing that out regularly during the summer.

    We live in Fargo, ND. We have a playhouse that's the same brand. It's been sitting outside in the winters untreated for four years and while it looks faded, it really has held up well. The door broke off, but that's because they used this plastic strip instead of hinges, and we just replaced the door with real hinges. This playset has REAL hinges on the door. There are also small gaps in the floor boards to let water and snow through. The slides are super heavy duty. If you get a lot of wind, I wouldn't trust the stakes to hold it in place without some sort of cement in the holes. But if you treat it, I would definitely expect it to hold up. It's cedar, so the wood is soft and doesn't really give slivers, but it also doesn't really rot much.

    My box 5 arrived a day later from the rest and it was from jet.com which I thought was weird. It was the straight slide and it wasn't packaged in a box, just a slide left on my porch covered in plastic.

    Thanks! I hope I somehow receive it, but I doubt it considering the shipping label for the 5th box was put on a girl's bicycle by mistake. They said to write to them in a week to see if they have it back in stock.

    My box 3 of 5 got lost. Walmart says if they can confirm in 48 hours, they will process a refund or replacement. It will need to be the whole thing, but they can arrange for a pickup. kidskraft says if I can show the original receipt and the partial refund from Walmart, they will be able to sell me this box No. 3 for that price difference

    Are people typically applying a sealant to this before assembly? We live in Minnesota and there is snow on the ground now so waiting for it to melt so we can assemble it!

    Bought this around Black Friday, took a little over a week for all to arrive. Began building last weekend, got about 5-6 hours building each day as it was cold mornings and gets dark early. Built most of it myself as waiting around for my father in law to be available would've added time to the assembly. Even the roof being pretty light,all I needed to do was get it up on the top then I could position it myself. The slide was the most difficult thing for sure but with cable ties took me about 4 hours to set up alone. I've noticed some slides they have don't have the piece that goes over the connections and simply screw together, would've saved hours, but this one was a challenge. Glad I built it myself instead of paying for someone to build it.
