think i'm gonna jump on this and get the 5200, thanks for the post.

i wish they sold it with the 48 oz container instead of 64 oz, since the 64 oz is too tall to fit under normal kitchen cabinets when it's on the base.

but, i've read a few reviews of the low-profile 64 oz container that comes with the other models, which say it doesn't work well when you want to make small servings (less than 4 cups or so) because the base is too wide. i'd rather deal with the inconvenience of extra height than lose the ability to make single servings. if it gets too annoying, i can always order the 48 oz container separately later.

The ascent with its modular blending cup/bowl (sold separately) is perfect for making single servings (1-2 cups worth). I'd wait on that, maybe BF. The 2300 was on sale a few months ago for $270 and has been a pleasure to use in the kitchen.

FYI the Vitamix 32 oz container [amazon.com] is warmly priced at $103.99 right now. Buying that and the Vitamix mini tamper [amazon.com] is fantastic for single servings... plus it fits under cabinets!

Awesome price on the 5200. Have had mine for 10 years now and use it almost daily. Only issue was with the blade bearing about 5 years ago and Vitamix sent me a new container right away. Every time I see one of these deals pop up I wonder if I should buy one as backup.

5200 is the pick for America's Test Kitchen.

This is mostly because it comes with a taller jar that vortexes better than the shorter wider jars.
