I've been wanting a Plex Pass and waiting on a promotion deal but didn't get an email.

Anyone got a code they can share if they have no use for the Plex Pass?

Code would be great if someone has it. I didn't have an email set up with them, so no way I'm going to get a discount code. Been debating for years, but really need the DVR function without WMC.

Didn't get the targeted email as well. Are codes shareable or only for the targeted user? If someone has a shareable code and not being used, I'd like to get one please Big Grin

Jellyfin?

EDIT: Just googled it. I thought I had seen them all: NextPVR, etc etc, but never came across that one. None of them seem to work very well, for my basic needs (scheduling and recording).

Jellyfin [jellyfin.org].

Jellyfin works well once you have it setup. Setup can be a little painful though.

Yeah, just got a quick overview. How easy is it to get scheduling updates and record series, etc, with HDHomerun units? It seems like all the others were cumbersome and required special, extensive setups (and still didn't work well).

He's referring to this: https://jellyfin.org/ It you are happy with plex then no need to re-invent the wheel. I'm as frugal as they come and I coughed up the $75 a few years back. (when I finally eliminated MCE on Win7 htpc)

I've never used Plex before, but of course I've seen it posted a million times here. I don't have a lot of the more advanced features it offers. Just want good easy recording of shows and series. But I'm willing to pay $75 lifetime if it fits the bill on those two fronts. I'm done fiddling with substandard options.

The email claims it is specific to the account it was sent to, but I know past offers have worked for other people anyway.

Is Plex Pass really worth it for the casual viewer? I just stared using Plex a few weeks ago and in my research, I didn't find many benefits to paying for the Pass. Please let me know if I'm wrong so I can try to get in on the deal.

The main benefits are DVR for live TV and hardware-accelerated streaming. There are also some nice controls if you have children or friends you share your library with (bandwidth limiting, restricting content to children, etc.)
