Jellyfin?

EDIT: Just googled it. I thought I had seen them all: NextPVR, etc etc, but never came across that one. None of them seem to work very well, for my basic needs (scheduling and recording).
I've been using Jellyfin for almost 2 years. It does recording and scheduling just fine. It has some issues but the dev team really keeps up with issues and requests. Just be warned this isn't a simple download and run, there are quirks that can be real time sucks. It's open source and definitely worth a try as it's free. It's based off emby, so if you're familiar with that, it isn't much different

For those in the know - this is a good price? I've seen past postings that said wait, but don't remember the specifics.

Also, does Plex Premium give you the ability to upload to a cloud server? Other than what people have mentioned (DVR, faster streaming speeds), I don't see any option for cloud storage - if say your home server is offline.

Is plex pass worth it if you do not watch/record live tv or need a dvr?

The only meaningful way to answer that for you is to Google the list of Plex pass features and see if any of those are important to you.

Yeah, just got a quick overview. How easy is it to get scheduling updates and record series, etc, with HDHomerun units? It seems like all the others were cumbersome and required special, extensive setups (and still didn't work well).
I use HDHomeRun Prime and I have a subscription to the Schedules Direct [schedulesdirect.org]. It seems to be working fine. The TV Guide looks good and I have successfully recorded stuff. The one thing I would say is if you going to use a Windows computer, don't even try to install Jellyfin as a service - just run it at startup with a logged-in user. They haven't invested much time in the Windows service side of things.

I saw that mentioned above. I'll need to check that out too, along with subscription price.

I just busted one of my old single tuner HDHomeruns (we are in the process of moving). MadMad

I never seem to receive this email offer. If anyone received it and either already has a lifetime pass or won't be using it, I would love to take it off your hands. Thanks!

For what it's worth...for anyone who uses Plex on a near-daily basis and is asking if the pass is worth it at this price.

If you use it every day, after one year you're looking at about 20 cents a day, and that just keeps going down the longer you use it since it's a lifetime sub. And then remember that this doesn't just magically exist, but that there are people actively responsible for creating / programming / updating it.

To me, it's a no-brainer. I like the service, I use it daily, so I paid for it. Going on three years now, so I'm down to under 7 cents a day. Totally worth it.
