How does the trade-in credit work?

Apple trade-in credit
When you trade in with Apple, you'll get an estimated trade-in value. If you pay monthly, that value will be applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you pay in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received.
T-Mobile/Sprint trade-in credit

1) Going directly with T-mobile, using the iPhone 8 as a trade in will net you $415 off instead of Apple $140 + $150 Rebate Card. $415 vs $290. No brainer. Granted the Tmo deal is bill credits, but if your staying with Tmobile, who cares.
2) If you don't want Bill credits, BE PATIENT. Costco will have an offer soon if they don't have one already that will usually mirror T-Mobiles direct offer except with a prepaid card instead. Will beat Apple's crappy offer.

I also traded in the 11 for the 12 Pro and got $350.
The $150 digital Mastercard is going to help.
I also used Apple card to finance at 0% for 24 months but will end up paying double each month to have it paid for by next year's model.

They allow you to upgrade for another promo and still keep your current credits before 30 months as long as you pay off the EIP first.

ie. can I pay off the balance right away but if in 12 months, iPhone 13 comes out & I want to partake, does TMO still dole out my iphone 12 trade-in credits month by month & not accelerate it forward?
