  • For trade-ins, you'll receive two different trade-in credits — one from Apple and one from T‑Mobile/Sprint.
  • When you trade in with Apple, you'll get an estimated trade-in value. If you pay monthly, that value will be applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you pay in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received.
  • Pre-Paid Mastercard expires 6-months from time of issuance.
  • Lines must be active and in good standing when card is issued. Allow up to 2 weeks after fulfillment of offer requirements.

That's not the case with everyone. I traded in my iphone xs max for $370 +$150 = $520. Plus apple is offering an extra instant $30 off for t-mobile users. So it's in $799 instead of $829.
If you're a longtime T-Mobile customer, it's $500 trade in for XS Max and $200 for being a 5+ year customer.

$700 > $520

If you're not a longtime customer, Apple deal is good

Do I have to be on EIP for the remaining balance on the new phone post credits?
ie. can I pay off the balance right away but if in 12 months, iPhone 13 comes out & I want to partake, does TMO still dole out my iphone 12 trade-in credits month by month & not accelerate it forward?
You can pay off the balance any time after your credits start posting.
If you want to get the iPhone 13 next year, then just make sure you pay off the EIP for this offer before you upgrade the line to the 13. Then the credits for the iPhone 12 offer will become and "account-level" credit rather than line-level and continue posting through the rest of the 30 months, and you can get another device promo for the line.

There's documentation here:

You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.
If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months).

Additionally, you can't pay off an EIP by deducting the remaining Recurring Device Credits (RDC) installments from the remaining EIP balance. The full EIP balance must be paid to close out the plan.

When I attempt to use the code '2020APPLERETAILT1' on https://promotions.t-mobile.com/ I am informed that 'there were no promotions that matched your search criteria'. Worked fine earlier this morning.

Just check with T-mobile agent they said it still is attached deep into the system as a Line credit promo therefore you can not take another one until it ends or you will lose the rest.

iPhone 12 pro 256GB
1100 - 110 military discount - $250 iPhone X trade in - $150 MasterCard = $590 tax free in Delaware
Vs Tmobile 50%
1100 x 1.08% tax(philly) - 415 iPhone X trade in = $773
Am I calculating this correct as getting from T-Mobile I have to pay tax on the phone where I go directly with Apple, I'm able to use military discount and choose to pick up in tax free state?

No, you are getting an additional $150 on top of whatever Apple offers for the trade in

in the case of iPhone X, that's $250 + $150 which = $400
If $250 is bill credit spread over 2 years, I would say selling X for $350 outright seems a much better option. Otherwise,I agree, X has a slightly better prospect.

Send them that link along with the line that says you can have both.

No. The device has to be in good working condition.

This is a pretty pathetic deal, just switch to ATT you get double the "discount" and both plans are pretty even priced. I have no loyalty. T-mobile offers new subscriber better deal than its customers who's been with them for a long time. Instead of retaining customers they rather treat people who flip flop from carrier to carrier better.

A lot of us on T-Mobile are on plans that are way cheaper than anything available today (with free lines, hookup, unlimited HD video, one plus promo, etc) so we save much more money in the long run even if we don't switch to AT&T. In that sense, these T-Mobile/Sprint deals are perfectly fine.

But everyone's different. If you're paying for their regular plan with no free lines or discounts, then switching might make more sense.
