1) Going directly with T-mobile, using the iPhone 8 as a trade in will net you $415 off instead of Apple $140 + $150 Rebate Card. $415 vs $290. No brainer. Granted the Tmo deal is bill credits, but if your staying with Tmobile, who cares.
2) If you don't want Bill credits, BE PATIENT. Costco will have an offer soon if they don't have one already that will usually mirror T-Mobiles direct offer except with a prepaid card instead. Will beat Apple's crappy offer.

If you want to move from Cricket you will have to signup for postpaid with Tmobile or Sprint.

e) What is the cheapest T-Mobile plan (with taxes) with at least 8GB of data?
f) When ordering at Apple, if you select "activate later", how long do you have to activate?
g) For how long do you need to have the plan before you get the $150?
h) Can the $150 be used for any purchases at non T-Mobile places? For example, buying items at Walmart?

g. I activated yesterday and submitted the rebate form yesterday itself. As per some users, the rebate is approved once the trade-in device is inspected, so it may take somewhere between 5-14days (apple sends the trade-in kit through the mail, then pack your device and send back mail, so I assume it might take somewhere between 7-14 days once you mail trade-in device).

After getting phone, i got in a chat with Tmobile and they asked me ICCD (sim number), you can find this on back of iPhone box, or remove the sim tray to find or even you can find from settings...It took less than 5 mins for then to activate.
Once its activated, Tmobile agent will give you Promo Code (2200APPLERETAIL1) to submit the rebate form.
