How does the trade-in credit work?
You'll receive two different trade-in credits — one from Apple and one from T‑Mobile/Sprint.
Apple trade-in credit
When you trade in with Apple, you'll get an estimated trade-in value. If you pay monthly, that value will be applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you pay in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received.
T-Mobile/Sprint trade-in credit

Which phone plans are eligible?

Trade in your eligible iPhone (in good condition) using the Mail-in Kit Apple will send you after your new iPhone ships, or take it to an Apple Store if you selected that option when you purchased your new iPhone. If your trade-in doesn't match the condition described, or isn't an eligible device, you will no longer qualify for the T-Mobile Special Trade-in Offer. However, Apple Trade In will provide a new value for your device. You'll have the option to either accept this revised value or reject it. We'll work with you to confirm that you still want to move forward with the trade-in.

1) Going directly with T-mobile, using the iPhone 8 as a trade in will net you $415 off instead of Apple $140 + $150 Rebate Card. $415 vs $290. No brainer. Granted the Tmo deal is bill credits, but if your staying with Tmobile, who cares.
2) If you don't want Bill credits, BE PATIENT. Costco will have an offer soon if they don't have one already that will usually mirror T-Mobiles direct offer except with a prepaid card instead. Will beat Apple's crappy offer.
