This is better than that $200ish Toshiba 10TB on Amazon primeday... could have saved myself some money and possibly bought two of these. Frown.

This is their rating on trustpilot: https://www.trustpilot.com/review...olcent.com

There are only 18 ratings on it. While only 3.4 stars, there are multiple 4 star reviews from people that got their items. The first rating is from December 2018, so they aren't brand new.

I placed an order for one yesterday morning. Got an email late last night stating that my order had been canceled at my request and that my money would be refunded, even though I didn't request a cancelation. I've emailed them back to ask what's going on, so I will update.

Crossing my fingers for you, brah.

I couldn't find info on Seagate's website about the ST8000DMZ04 model, but the info for the ST8000DM004 said it is an SMR drive. :-( So likely the same drive that's in the Seagate external HDD that will go on sale for $120 + tax at Costco at the end of this month.
Even after considering the sales tax, you could save over $10 by waiting for the Costco sale and shucking the drive. (Of course the amount saved would depend on the tax rate in your state/city.)

If this were a CMR drive, I'd consider getting it over the Costco deal. As things stand, I'll wait.

Crap would have preferred to purchase from Costco. Oh well-if the drives turn out decent for long term storage in raid 0 I'll be happy.

Sorry for the delayed response, I was away all week for work. The package arrived Wednesday and only had one of the two hard drives in it. I looked at the email from toolcent and realized it stated the shipment had 1 drive. I emailed them today and their response said the 2nd drive would arrive this Wednesday and I will receive tracking info soon. I have a feeling they forgot to send the 2nd drive and wouldn't have if I didn't email.

At first I was concerned about the packaging because there wasn't a sealed seagate box. When I looked it up online, the packaging is the same other people have received seagate drives. Essentially it's a sealed static free bag and the box it is in is up to the seller.

The drive looks new but I am not sure if there is a way to tell once plugging it into pc.

The link below details an interesting method to determine if a drive is new or used. It also shows original packaging to be what I received.

This company works out of a P.O. box in Florida. Best case scenario is that they are drop shipping these from a large distributor in which case they should be available for similar prices elsewhere. I'd rather pay $15 more and buy from Amazon.
