Spoke with Sam's Club customer service about 2 weeks ago. Told your membership must be expired for 6 months before considered a "new" member sign up.

However, if someone else signs up as a new member then you can be their complimentary member no matter how long ago your membership expired.

I have both Costco and Sam's. I always get this Sam's deal. It always comes out free with deals like these. After going to Sam's and Costco's for 10+ years I have found some items at Sam's that I can't find at Costco. If I could only choose 1 membership it would probably be Costco but I really like Sam's too. I love the scan and go at Sam's. It really beats out having to wait in checkout to pay. Also the hotdogs are way better at Sam's lol.

Do you need a more compelling reason than free?

Sam's is worth it alone for the gas discounts. Arguing about Costco and Sam's seems so weird to me, why not just join both if they are near you? They both have their strengths. This deal is effectively free which makes arguing about it even more nonsensical. lol

Seems like a pretty good deal for net zero. Never been in a Sam's Club so I'm buying for the curiosity.

I have Sam's Plus membership. The free shipping beats Costco hands down as they charge $3 per item. Get the basic membership with the $45 coupon then upgrade to Plus.

I created a new account by using my gmail account and inserting a "period" in-between two of the characters as google will ignore them.

Waited 3 days and went to Sams and bought about 50 dollars worth of items. The 45 dollars came off at the register and I only paid about 4 bucks.

Unfortunately you just have to have faith that the credit is there because there is nowhere in the app for you to see it.
Can you use the same address?

Signed up on website using link, went in and bought a few things that were less than 45 through self checkout, didn't pop up. Went back 2 days later, rang up a 150$ cart at the register with a cashier and after they hit total it popped up the 45$ credit right before I had to run my debit card. Basically free membership. Worth it but be careful not to buy sh*t you don't need, reccomend to wait for coupons and sales if you can and using the app to checkout in store puts it ahead of costco imo.

I signed up last Thursday but didn't see this offer. It says valid from 10/1 so I should get this but I don't see the credit.

$45 off $45 was instant for me after establishing account.

Still not as good as Costco, but can find a few good food items there like their grass fed ground beef. For me, they're both right next to each other, so easy to have both.

Is there really an advantage to Plus over Amazon Prime?

Costco is better tbh, feels like a more premium experience. You notice the difference everywhere. After shopping at both some of the stuff from Costco was priced higher at Sam's.

This is the best. No waiting in checkout line.... though still a line to scan the phone at walking out.
Yeah what's the point of that? Are they trying to make sure people don't steal stuff?

I've come to the conclusion that the people going for the food are clearly not couponers or people who know how to shop for groceries. Which is probably why most of the articles/threads praising Costco always mentions items like the rotisserie chicken, pizza, etc. Pre-cooked or heat & eat food are fine on occasion, but certainly not $60 membership worthy. Also, Out of 3 states I've been in, the gas prices are absolutely not worth the membership unless maybe the person never drives outside of a 5 mile radius. There's always other options just as cheap and even cheaper where I've been.

I bought the Costco membership for the first time last November to finally be able to join in on some of the super duper awesome deals that always seem to pop up for Black Friday and throughout the year....so far this 11 months, I've bought gas twice, the Cetaphil lotion/cream 2 pack that was on sale (turns out it was in-store only & a "new" sensitive skin version which is worse), croissants and we tried the s'mores snack. I will be going in store to get a refund on this much wasted year that included 4 trips, none of the free coupons w/new membership, extremely crowded stores, and no deals to be found. Oh, and the great prices on alcohol I've been hearing about the past 10 years, turns out, not offered in Texas. Guess what else, I knew it was Kirkland brand, but I didn't know that wasn't in addition to other brands (Sam's has good prices on real brands of alcohol).
Sorry...rant over.

Sorry...rant over.

This is obviously a huge YMMV but last time I checked, the Walmart across the street had milk stout beer by left hand brewing for a dollar less than Sam's. Same beer. Makes no sense.
