Spoke with Sam's Club customer service about 2 weeks ago. Told your membership must be expired for 6 months before considered a "new" member sign up.

However, if someone else signs up as a new member then you can be their complimentary member no matter how long ago your membership expired.

I have both Costco and Sam's. I always get this Sam's deal. It always comes out free with deals like these. After going to Sam's and Costco's for 10+ years I have found some items at Sam's that I can't find at Costco. If I could only choose 1 membership it would probably be Costco but I really like Sam's too. I love the scan and go at Sam's. It really beats out having to wait in checkout to pay. Also the hotdogs are way better at Sam's lol.

I signed up Friday and went to Sam's on Sunday. I saw nothing on my account, but at the register I got an automatic $45 discount, so this was super easy.

I also see in the Sams app, it appears you can disable auto-renewal.

I hadn't been to Sams for years, but it's pretty much as I remember it. More of the mainstream products, many just larger sizes of what you can get at Walmart. There were not a lot of the newer or more obscure items that Costco sells. The aisles were crowded with pallets and hard to get around. Lines were long. Not as clean as a Costco. Unless I see other amazing deals that are Sams-only, doubt we'll go back, but this is still a good deal for those who like Sams or don't have another option.

Did you sign up online?

Did you checkout thru a live cashier at the club?

It was in store checkout. I don't believe cashier helped. It was self checkout where you scan the item and put it on the belt. $45 credit don't work on scan n go or online.

I signed up on Saturday and just went today (Tuesday). Scanned all items at the self checkout. $47.00 discount was applied at checkout. Thanks OP!

Yes, signed up online and went through a normal cashier. I read when signing up that the $45 deal is only valid through a cashier.

I signed up on Monday. Saw that the offer was displayed on the online app for membership. Today I went to Sam's Club and stopped by Member Services desk to get a physical membership card. Did some shopping, went to check out with cashier. Presented membership card and everything was scanned, discount did not show up.

Any ideas?

I do both. I find myself buying more grocery stuff from Sams. Costco has kind of gotten full of themselves lately and their pricing isn't really that great on day to day stuff. I will still buy electronics from them for obvious reasons. Also Costco has good pricing on the occasional seasonal items (coats, gloves, blankets) that are generally higher quality of Sams. Costco's return policy can't be beat though. I can justify the Costco membership just for the gas savings. As for Sams, they carry a few products I can't get anywhere else so I keep the membership.
Hey Rock, what products do you get at Sam's that you can't get anywhere else? Thanks.

Does Sam's Club sell stamps?

Also, is it possible to use the $45 credit on Sam's gas station?
