HP uses low quality parts. The fans will burn out first. HP is honestly the worst company to try to buy a gaming laptop from.

How would this hold up for Fortnite? Should I hold out for a better system, or is it good to go?

I bought the same laptop but with the 1650 TI brand new in the box from someone on OfferUp for 500 bucks a few months ago. I use it for school and light gaming. It works great. No complaints so far.
Howz the build? Is it more plastic ?

I've read quite a lot of issues about this hinge style; you end up with a 2 in 1 within a year.

Estimated 108.6fps on med settings and 56.7fps on high settings per Can You Run It.

Is the processor good enough (not too slow though) to run code? I would be running .net, angular, sql/oracle (with sql jobs running), postman, react, most likely all at the same time.

Should be plenty decent for it, id expect 60 FPS on high settings @ 1080p.

You can always OC the graphics card a little bit too if you need it. Should be able to handle a pretty hefty memory overclock.

A 1650 is a great card for games like Fortnite, Rocket League, DOTA, League of Legends, etc.

Full specs are on HP's website now:
https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c06694766

What I find interesting is that this laptop has a USB 3.1 gen 2(10gb/s) USB-C port. Most laptops under $700, even non-gaming laptops, tend to only have a USB 3.1 Gen 1(5gb/s) USB-C port. Also of note is that the USB-C port does support video out. While the brightness for the screen is a bit low a 250 nits and it doesn't have Wi-Fi 6 or the newer Bluetooth 5.0 standard, for the price this laptop is actually not bad overall.

Its not a slow CPU, its a 4 core / 8 thread CPU thats about 10% faster than an i7-7700HQ.

Probably run all of those things fine. For the money you are not getting anything better than this and its honestly a really solid CPU that is certainly the most high end part in the whole unit.
