Sounds like something a Ferengi would say...
Well Blu Ray quality is superior to streaming so it is good to have options.
~$3 per film on digital seems like a great value to me if you're a trekkie fan

maybe this is a dumb question, but what quality digital versions is this?

i mean, it will be nice to have the blue ray and all, but its basically going to sit on the shelf and the digital version is all i will watch.

It is a fair question considering the 10 movie digital has been $19.99 on here before. Without any knowledge, I assume HD (1080p).

You would notice if/when you upgrade to 4K. An upscaled 1080p blu-ray looks noticeably better than a 1080p digital copy.

So both platforms are 1080p?

Non-issue for Bluray (1080p) unless you have limited download speeds or a crappy router which are totally separate issues. Conceptually, the problem you are describing happens mostly with ultra high definition.
That's not accurate. Digital platforms still compress the file. You would definitely be able to tell the difference not to mention the audio.

Honestly, there are maybe 3 films in the 10 that are decent\worth watching imo.

The Wrath of Khan
The Search for Spock
The Voyage Home

The rest are either meh or outright awful, so a mediocre deal at best imo. Not too many people have a burning desire to re-watch Star Trek The Motion Picture or The Final Frontier.

I can assume you consider yourself a purist since you only liked the original cast. But Voyage Home was better than Undiscovered Country? And First Contact was a great movie but that would be a boomer vs gen x kinda argument.
