While traveling to Walmart, pray that they have a rep from their Cell Phone Contracter (T-Roc). They have a severe shortage of reps with the pandemic going on. I tried to purchase a phone from a Walmart electronics employee and was informed by the Manager that they are no longer allowed to process phones without a T-Roc rep at the counter.
Next, Go to Kiosk, ask to purchase Verizon phone that you wish to.
They will verify ID and account (yes you can upgrade if the line you are upgrading is not in an installment situation. (So pay the installment phone off before you arrive). They check credit they will prepare paperwork, and that will include the 24 month installment plan, they will activate the phone. And if all goes smoothly you pay the price of the phone. Verizon's current policy The phone will be Locked for 60 days. Whether you pay it off or not. After 60 days it's basically automatic unlock no matter what the installment situation is.
I have taken advantage of this deal for the past few years, they NEVER allow you to use the gift card for the phone that is my experience and seeing other people purchase, no one got to use the GC.
I have sold the gift card to family members and sent the money to Verizon to get the phone paid in full. I don't like installments in the event a newer phone or better deal comes along. My line is again free for the upgrade.

If you are interested in switching to att or sprint you have that option just port your number and buy the phone. The deal is the same. This is a Walmart promo not a carrier promo.
Did you see any info on a requirement of an unlimited plan to upgrade? I don't have an unlimited plan, btw.

How does this deal works?
Is this buying Walmart giftcard once and then purchasing those iphone with the giftcard?
Last year, in store activations had the eGC sent right away. Online activations we had to wait 3+ weeks.
In any case, you cannot use the eGC to pay for the device or lower the installments.
