The reason that TVs these days have crappy sound is that the TV (thus the speaker) are getting thinner and thinner, and since everybody wants the tiny bezel or the "no bezel" look, the speakers have to get mounted BEHIND the TV, firing BACKWARDS, away from your listening position!

It's decent if you have the TV wall-mounted, and the sound can somewhat bounce off the wall and out to your viewing location. The sound is REAL back if you have the TV freestanding, and the sound comes out of the back-firing speakers, and keeps going behind the TV, never to be heard again……

I bought a Westinghouse 50" 4k last year for like 160 and the sound on that TV is utter trash. I wonder how well these Walmart Onn TV's are.
May be you got a dud I bought the Westinghouse 4k 50 inch Roku from Bestbuy and couldn't have been happier. Still perfect for the living room of an apartment and definitely better than the Onn branded one that was also for $150 from Walmart! That TV has a slow interface and the volume is pretty low!

Does anybody have experience with the 43" as a computer monitor?
TIA
Yes, I do. It's great for work when I have to open several windows and see them all simultaneously. But it's not for everyone, consider whether having multiple monitors might be a better solution for you. Also, if you need something for photo editing, I wouldn't expect the color accuracy you'd get with a decent computer monitor, and viewing angle can affect the brightness of one portion of the screen vs. another as you turn your head, since you're sitting closer to this TV than it was designed for..

It's not just that, it's also that a loudspeaker needs a proper enclosure to sound good, especially as you go lower in frequency. Thinner sets obviously give these speakers less room to work with. And also they need to limit the bass to prevent the cheaply made enclosure from vibrating.

Do these onn TVs last? Looking to get the 70" for living room for when we have people over. Don't care about picture quality too much, given that I have a home theater with an LG OLED. Just need a decent TV that'll last, as we plan to hang it up on a wall.
Itll probably last a while. Honestly there is very little to fail in these modern tv's. You usually have 2 boards inside and the panel itself. The panel is going to be the same panel used in other brand tv's and the boards most likely as well.

The purchased a refurbed 49 inch philips back in 2009 from a slick deal. Had awesome i believe 25 watt speakers sounded better than my stereo. That tv finally died earlier this year.

The brand onn. which everyone is saying is Walmart's house-brand is actually just a rebranded Hisense. If you look up onn. it's manufacturer is Hisense.

All house brands are manufactured by someone else. Bestbuy/Walmart/Target are not manufacturing their own electronics.

Costs more to recycle an old tv than to buy a new one.
not always true, i just sold a broken 70 inch hisense that broke in 6 months (I did get a full refund from Hisense) for $40.

What is the over/under on how long this deal lasts? 45 seconds max is my guess. Hopefully I am wrong. I need a cheap bedroom TV. The $1000 Westinghouse 38 inch TV I got a deal on 15+ years ago died.

I can't seem the find detailed specs on this model. Would anyone know if it has HDMI 2.0? Is it 4K 60Hz with chroma 4:4:4?
