So for high contrast edges/fonts, they will not look fuzzy, because the font vs the nearest color will be outside of the dithering threshold.
It is not compressing the chroma, it is pixel binning to even the tone across the panel.

It does appear to have a 'game' mode, which may help in the lag time, which I've heard the 50" of this model may have about 30+ ms. With 2.0, there's a chance it'll have 4:4:4

GDI guys, ALL ROKU PLATFORM TVS process 444 chroma.
Most sets however use spatial dithering, which on many models can't be disabled. So YES it's still 444, but it's not 1:1 pixel accurate due to the spatial dithering.
On the latest TCL models, there's an option to disable it and get the 1:1. This hasn't been true on older models.
Don't know whether this ONN made by hisense will have the option.
THAT SAID, you don't want to turn the spatial dithering off. 1:1 pixel accuracy is not important vs better contrast uniformity. Contrast uniformity makes it look nicer.
444 is just parroted by the idiotic gamer master race who honestly have no comprehension of the impact of chroma on the overall image.

LOLOL... I bet that's what everyone's thinking. That said.. I've personally vowed never to buy anything without wide gamut. It's just so much better.

This is the case for VA-panels, because very large panels will appear to have alot more contrast drift as you get out towards the left and right edges.
It looks like a better overall image with even contrast than 1:1 pixel mapping.
Think of it this way, You CAN"T SEE the dithering algorithm at a normal viewing distance. But YOU CAN SEE the contrast drift.
What is better, fixing a visual artifact you can't see, or one that you can.
Of course the solution to both is OLED. Problem with oled is burnin because PC/games have too many static elements.
