Not at all. Just I part Jewish and had relatives from just two generations ago killed in concentration camps but aren't so much of a sensitive snowflake that something like training camp in sports tears me apart. Imagine if I lived my life trying to hold onto the past of 80 years ago. Imagine trying to hold onto the past of something from almost 2 centuries ago?

This is false. Tons of engineers on here. The more technical the better. There's nothing an engineer cannot understand.

I'm a software engineer. I was hoping an engineer in the arts of tv's and their technologies could break it down for me. It might also help a civil engineer or others...Thanks!

An engineer researches what someone tells them and understands it for himself. Engineers dont wait for some random on a message board to explain a concept. Even if someone did, an engineer wouldnt believe it completely until he verified it for himself. Engineers can take any subject in the world and understand the concept.
If engineering is so great, why are all of you broke and camping slickdeals for rock bottom TVs ?

Hahahaha. just kidding. laugh out loud

It will process an HDR signal. And it has more than 100nits which means technically it's Above SDR. But this is not an achievement since almost all tvs for the past 10 years do ~300-400 nits. If you're looking for a that HDR highlight Punchiness, you'll need something in the 350 nit range. For VA, 500 nits is recommended, and you don't really need to go above 500, because it really blows out the shadow detail < a bad thing>

I don't know how many nits this TV can do, probably 250 max at this price. I'd be surprised if it can do 300-350.

It has hdmi 2.0. you don't have to worry about hdcp.

Contrast ratio is at least 4000:1 if it's VA, if it turns out it's IPS, ~1000:1 (unlikely).

VA is the better panel obviously.

prepare for all the Chinese bots with databases full of stolen credit card numbers to clog up the website leaving regular buyers with nothing.
Except, why ? If they already stole the cards, why not just do money transfers, why bother converting them to TVs, then having to sell the TVs, that's insane extra work. LMAO

How do you know what locations the sale will be. Is it online also?

Really wanted a bigger TV, but looks like my Black Friday is canceled since I have a $455 vet bill I had to charge to my card yesterday. And that's not the end of it, having to be referred to a specialist. Frown

Just remember that these cheap TVs have you playing "screen roulette" where some percentage of TVs show up broken or DOA. Not a huge deal with your average return policy, but worth noting.

Also - and I know this is mentioned in every cheap TV thread - this is not a TV for areas where it's going to get bumped into. This means no childrens' rooms, high traffic areas against a wall where it can be bumped into, or anything like that.

Most people who end up owning these cheap panels for years use them regularly, but are very careful about where they're placed. Almost none of these people have kids, or at least put them in rooms where kids don't go.

If you need a TV with integrated STB functionality, this is not a bad pick.

I have no idea about the quality or how long they lost, but if you have a Citi Credit Card, that'll get you +2 year extension. Then you can pay the extra $13 for +3 year extension. After that, you can register your TV for another +2 year extension. That'll come out to 7 years that it's covered by warranty.
It's not really a price issue, but a pain in the ass to replace issue. I'm going to mount this TV and I doubt that's going to be an easy process. Would hate to have to unmount it and figure something out in a year or two.

So you don't care about the picture quality of the tv that your guest will be watching, boy I hope the food is good at least
If we have people over, it's usually for some football or basketball game that's on an over-compressed 720p cable TV channel. A $300 TV won't display that any worse than a $3,000 TV given the underlying content will be of awful quality.

If we have people over for a movie night, I have an LG C9 in my home theater and a Samsung KS8000 in my den.

And the food we serve is always fantastic, thank you for asking. My wife makes the best guac.

This isn't quite right. The extended warranty isn't for an additional three years, it's three years total, that's even if you register the TV. So with the Citi credit card (excluding Citi Double Cash) on top of that, it's a total of five years. Still not bad for a $300 TV.

they sure did knowing it was broken. could have possibly been something easy to fix but i dont know enough about it.
If the panel wasn't cracked (and I'm assuming it wasn't) it's technically possible to connect it to a new LCD controller, or possibly even replace the defective board(s); modern TVs are incredibly integrated and only have two or three boards inside.

Agreed, this would be a very stupid purchase with a stolen card (plus, you're shipping something to a known address).
