But seriously we don't see external frame packs on here much. They aren't as popular.
Light is right.
This is as low as it goes for anything non-generic. You can buy a lot of generic bags from wish.com and places like that, and they are decent and for a much lower price. The thing you get with osprey is comfort, stability, balance, and a good warranty. If you are someone who backpacks a lot, or plans to, this is well worth it. If you are doing a one-off trip to see if you want to get back into it, I would recommend buying something cheaper or borrowing a bag.
The only cons I have for this bag are that they're a lot of extra straps and things like that that aren't necessarily needed, but once you've used it a few times, you can cut off whatever you think is excess. Happy camping!
According to camelcamelcamel. This is pretty much the lowest price. You might be able to find the older version for slightly cheaper. Biggest difference is the extra rain cover that comes with the new version and the logos been much more subtle on the newer version.

i was also looking at the aether AG. but ultimately decide against it because of the weight. Aether AG is 5+lb vs volt is closer to 4. Also, they are suppose to have a new version of the aether coming out soon, thus the sale everywhere

Which after a day or two of long distance hiking, it becomes evident what the best way to carry is.
