I have the detent anvil on my DCF894 and can take off the sockets by hand without a problem....

While the 899 gets you roughly double the torque of the 894, I would recommend the 894 if removing lug nuts is your application. The 894 is plenty powerful for that and you'll just be carrying around unnecessary size and weight unless you have a more demanding application. In a vacuum this is probably the better deal though.

It has a switch for 3 settings as well as a variable speed trigger. I pretty much stick to setting "2"

Setting 3 is for removing really stubborn fasteners.
It's enough to snap lug bolts if used for tightening.

is this worth buying now or wait for new model and pay more?

is 4A battery good enough for 1-4 wheels?
Yes it would last much more than 4 wheels

it won't fit. you'll need extensions and maybe wobble extensions.

but this is overkill for most car uses.

I have the detent pin 894 and while it's stiff I don't regret buying it instead of the hog ring version. It's loosened up some with using it more.

The 894 seems like a good compromise between size and power. It's been fine for all the lug nuts I've needed to loosen.

I guess a the problem with anvil is it snaps under torque . Due to faulty design installing the pin

I'm in the DeWalt family and looking to get an impact wrench primarily for changing tires. Is this a better option than the Grainger deal?

https://www.grainger.com/mobile/p...ery=317D27
I had been eying that deal also and pulled the trigger on this Instead. HT model is a fair trade off for the 4 vs 5ah battery. And if you can get cashback it makes it a no brainer. I get $30 for the bag and charger on eBay so it comes out to about $150 for the tool and battery.

I use the DCF894 for changing tires and it works fine but sometimes takes several seconds of impact before it loosens the lugs. The DCF899 has over twice the torque and would loosen lug nuts even faster. However it could also over-tighten them.

I got the DCF894 for $179 with a free battery, but $199 for the DCF899, battery, and charger is a fantastic deal.

The 899 has a low speed low torque selection. Use that to put the lugs back on and then torque with a torque wrench. Never use impact mode for putting lug nuts back! Always use a torque wrench. Over torqueing even a little can cause problems such as warped rotors.
