After activating the sim on the mint site, you'll get a text message saying your number has ported in successfully blah blah blah, took no more than 10 minutes to get the text message. I suggest you put in the mint sim into your phone and restart. Approximately 3-4 hours later, you'll get an e-mail w/ the subject line "It's Alive — Your Number Has Been Transferred to Mint." In this e-mail you'll get the an orange section if you scroll down a bit, about half way through the e-mail it'll say "WELL PLAYED, YOU GOT 3 FREE MONTHS", in fine print it says you'll get the credit within 24 hours. The 12months for $150 deal, I also got this e-mail, same subject line, but it does not have this orange section about free months. about 12 hours in the mint site hasn't updated w/ the promotion free months yet, but I'm thinking it'll get refreshed soon. |

This has been posted multiple times by multiple people and you are the first person I've ever seen posting that it didn't work so afraid I'm gonna have to go with operator error. These are standard deals for new customers (which means no you can't port in a number or possibly even pick your number...this isn't a problem if you forward google voice to your #).
Ok sweet good to know, there's no notice of anything like that anywhere either bestbuy or mint mobile website. A customer service manager said that they would get back to me tomorrow to resolve it. They also said it might take up to two months for the promotion to go through.
Mint mobile just told me this isn't their promotion it's a best buy promotion, best buy said it's not their promotion it's a Mint mobile promo.... This is going to end up still worth the $60 but it's not gonna end up being 6 months as neither of them are claiming it's their promo

Update: from Mint FAQ: Once you're ready to transfer your number, remove SIM 1 and insert SIM 2 to get started. To transfer your current phone number to Mint, simply select the option 'Transfer My Number' during activation. We suggest prepping before activation as you'll need some information from your old carrier: Your current account number. This can be found on your billing statement, or just hit them up to get it The corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number. The billing address associated with the account. We've also got a helpful video to walk you through it! Unfortunately, once a plan is activated we can't transfer your number to your current Mint account. So make sure you do it at activation. Note: your phone number may take up to 48 hours to complete and landlines can take up to 5 business days. If you have any questions regarding your transfer, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat. Once the number has been successfully transferred, we will we send you an SMS and confirmation email. Aight? FYI, Mint does not charge a fee for transferring your number, but your less-cool, old school carrier might.
You do have 45 days from when you start Mint mobile to ask for a refund. I think, otherwise, you may be out of luck.
"Customers are free to leave the Mint Mobile network at any time. But if they do it before their plan expires, they will forfeit their remaining months of service and effectively lose money since those months were paid for in advance"
Update 10/28/2020 2.30PM: Just got an email from Mint
this is us letting you know that the 3 free months we promised you is now sitting in your account. When your first three months are up, your plan will automatically renew for another three. Six months without a wireless bill, bliss.
