You many uses would you get? I can't even fathom how much this is!
No clue, but it's going to last a damn long time! Before I bought this jar I was buying 1 g jars from whole foods that lasted at least a couple months (I only cook with saffron once a week or so, but that will probably increase now!).

Thanks, OP. I was planning to make some paella soon, so perfect timing!
They are claiming this is better than their Coupe grade. Coupe grade seems to go for about $10-15 per gram, depending on source, bulk quantity, etc, so $70 for 14 grams is an insane price if that's true. This would be cheap even for Superior grade, which includes a lot of broken threads. Hell, this would be a decent deal for ground saffron.
Anyone know shelf life?
Assuming I keep it closed/dry etc, what's reasonable time period
I don't use it frequently, but this is a cheap price
2-3 years, or (according to some sources) about 1 year past any "best by" mark. You can keep using it after that, you might just need to use more.

A lot. It is a large amount of saffron.
Most recipes call for a pinch or two (or a "heavy pinch") of it for about 4 people. The rule of thumb is 3-4 threads per person, which corresponds to about 1/2 cup of rice for paella. So 12-16 threads for a 4-person paella, which lines up to estimates of a pinch being 12-20 threads. There are various estimates out there, but the average number of threads per gram of saffron is around 500. 14 grams times 500 threads is 7000 threads, which would make about 350 well-saffroned 4-person paellas.
But at this price, you can afford to experiment a bit with saffron recipes. Make a special Indian biryani at home. Bake saffron bread or saffron cookies. Marinate lamb with it. Make spiced coffee or tea.
