I bought the black model on prime day as well. Ended up using 2 identical 13" x 55" slabs of wood that I had in the garage instead of buying a new butchers block. Aligned them on the floor, put the flipped over frame on top, drilled, flipped upright, no regrets. A desk pad covers most of the visible split between the 2 slabs.
Basically you'll be good with whatever you go with.
For anyone thinking about the UNICOO frame, looks like their website has it for the same price [unicoousa.com]as amazon with free shipping but isn't charging tax. They make you pay return shipping + 20% restocking fee, FYI.
- Easy to build (1-person, <1hr)
- Stable foundation (No wobbling)
- Lowest cost dual-motors as of August 2020 on Amazon
- Manages 50+pounds with ease
Cons:
- Makes some gearing noises when moving up/down (don't know how it compares to competition)
Here's [imgur.com]a video of it in action. Put a 4ft butcher block from Home Depot and it does the job well. Considering I purchased this for $230 during August, this is a solid deal; wonder if it'll go cheaper. Nonetheless, if your're in the market for one, this works so far.
Nicely done. looks good. I'm not a woodworking guy but I've always heard that pine is a soft wood and dents easily. Is that the case with yours?
20 dollars for board is cheap and it's 2 inch thick. But staining and sanding is time consuming especially in this weather...

I think routing the edges and rounding the corners will make it last long.
I called the company and they said they've been around for 5 years and this is the first year selling this model ___ they said their single motor one uses touch screen display which isn't as reliable. This dual motor variant uses buttons and they said it's the best
Do you have any questions ? The motors are quiet and extremely precise...
I did a ton of research and I'm not concerned with warranty. They seem to take care of the buyers as long as they have a order number... Nonetheless I have extended return window so If something goes wrong I have until Jan of next year to return everything.. and yeah that means hauling all this 200 lbs of steel In a box back to usps or FedEx lol
So far I'm really happy with it. The lowest height setting is what I really liked.
If everyone here doesn't know.... Fully and all of those lower end companies use motors sourced from china JIACHANG specifically. So don't waste your money on brand names when you will get the same quality motor for less money my dooooood
If you really worried and wiling to dish out the cash for american made frames and possibly motors* I would go with iMovR - their higher tier frames offer that

That being said - JIACHANG makes hundreds of combinations with varying frames/motors/etc. None of them are 'cheap' as in cheap like this lower end TIMOTION or whatever that's on display. Everything is middle of the road and up, and they force each company to pay for new tooling to customize their frame in one way or another. Even as a distributor you couldn't find one of their frames at this price. Any JIACHANG frame is superior to this frame, and the UNICOO frames. As you move up from the middle of the road - the iMovR Landers/etc are just on par with the higher end JIACHANGs but they won't sell frame only to a consumer so you have to go iMovR or buy finished desks

You might be right, but I don't want to deal with returns right now given how heavy the frame is 😭
I'll stick with my gut feeling and won't turn back. Worst case if UNiCoo breaks down on me and the company refuses to provide warranty service, I'll learn my lesson and just invest in a higher priced frame from a more reputable company 👀
