I was looking at the skil wet saw, anyone have experience with either? I have a few Ridgid tools and like everything I've bought.

I have the Skil one and have been really happy with it However, looking at this one it seems much nicer. The fence on the skill is a pain to set properly (use two screws and you have to manually align it) while this Ridgid looks looks to have a fence more like my Ridgid table saw. The table top looks nicer too. It has ridges which could be bad for small tiles but will help with drainage on most of them. The lifetime warranty is always a plus too.

Dunno if there's more than one Rigid tile saw, but I know at least one of them, the tile guys seem to love.

I found this guy on YouTube while researching tile saws. I was going to get the Kobalt because of the sliding table, but that 99$ price point is hard to pass up.

I had the Skil saw and it worked fine, but the fence was pretty much useless. I have this one now and love it. High points: no tray to pull out to empty the water - just pull the plug and empty it out the bottom. And the fence is actually useful, and has accurate measurements on the gauge at the front. I got this with the stand on a previous deal, and it works great.

This is a good tile saw. We bought at this price three years ago while planning a bathroom job. My partner thought knippers would be sufficient, and I was a hero for insisting on this saw.

Can you use it as a dry saw as well by changing the blade?

How does this compare to the one with the stand? Aside from the stand, any other functional differences?

Can? ... Yes. Should? ... Absolutely not.

Wet saws spin at nearly twice the speed of the standard table saw. The kickback would be extremely violent and send you to the hospital. Use the right tool for the job, it's just not worth trying to save a few bucks here.

Hope my constructive comment doesn't get deleted for no reason at all like the a couple of days ago!

Great saw! Buy the Dewalt portable workbench, also on SD, and you're golden for both this saw and a miter saw. Won't waste any more time commenting in case it gets deleted again.

I've had this for a few years. Love it compared to my old crappy cheap one i had. Cut a bunch of porcelain and glass tile for a kitchen.

I have the ~$70 Skil console saw and have been beating on it for several years (~6-8 tile jobs). With the right blade (i.e. continuous rim like this from HF [harborfreight.com] for $15 after coupon), it's hard to complain. Yes, the fence requires lining up both sides, and you have to pay attention to the water level and debris, but that's expected on these smaller portable tile saws. Didn't look around much, but can still be picked up for $90 at Lowes [lowes.com] w/o discount.
