I think the last part of that is your serial number and you shouldn't publicize it.

You should remove it too. If that person edits their post your quote will still publicize it.

Its definitely not the serial #. Go and look at my screenshot too. Impossible for two people to post at the exact same time and have identical serial numbers. You can see that I scribbled my serial number out in the screenshot

Should I do a full format of this drive or just a quick? Not shucking it for NAS, just creating a huge single point of failure. TIA.
Honestly, a full format will at least "burn" it for a while to let you know if you're going to get infant mortality or not..

Just ran CrystalDiskInfo on the one that's not working and it shows it as a 160gb hard with many hours of use. The box was sealed and the hard drive shell looks brand new. I never thought this would happen to me but I guess it's better to choose delivery instead of in-store pickup.
I believe your delivery order can be shipped from local stores too. I placed 2 home delivery orders yesterday. I agree you have better chance

1st order shipped from BBY.COM/DC 717. I believe this is from a distribution center for BestBuy.com order. I assume DC maybe means "distribution center" and 717 is the distribution center #.
Update: this is in fact a Best Buy distribution center in my area.

2nd order shipped from BBY SFS 01155. I believe this is from a local store. I assume SFS maybe means "ship from store"? and 01155 could be the store #.
Update: the address is an actual BBY store in CHARLOTTE

you run a HD utility like CrystalDisk and look for attribute 0x16 (in hex) = 22 (decimal) and this is the helium value. If it's 0, it's non-helium. But there should be a value for helium drives.
ok i will do that, thank you for your help

Does anyone know if EDFZ has the 3V pin issue?

I had that with EMFZ and had to cover it.

4So picked two up locally - first one shucked just fine, second would boot up - thought it was a power issue, so put it back in the enclosure and plugged it up - booted up fine?! Took it back out of the enclosure and plugged it back in and no go?! Not sure what's the deal, tried two different sata and power cables, but no juice =/ Should I go and return it?
Check reddit, lot of discussion on that. Its a PSU issue, you might need to cover the pin when installing on your system. What were the model numbers of the two drives?

Ordered one. Thanks for posting. Rolling a nas with rpi 4 and consolidating a bunch of drives. Saving power over my t110.
Check out HardKernel's recently-released ODROID HC4.
It's based on the ODROID C4 that is faster than the RPi 4.
It has a toaster-shaped housing that can fit two SATA drives with native SATA III (not a USB 3 to SATA III bridge).

If you're looking for across-the-network backups, I'm a huge fan of BackupPC because it is highly space-efficient. I use it to back up our main file server at work.
However, it is slooooooowwww when doing full backups because it requires fairly strong CPUs to calculate the rsync file changes on both sides.

If you're looking for backup-to-direct-attached-drives, check out Veeam Agent for Windows. It's free, fast, and reliable. Not space efficient like BackupPC--I easily fill up multi-TB external drives with just a few full backups of the same server that is backed up nightly by BackupPC (we use Veeam for the monthly offsite backup, BackupPC for the onsite backup).

Thanks. I guess that'll take a day or 2.
