Windows, however, sticks to the 1024 rule, which means it sees a 250GB hard drive as 232GB, and a 1TB drive as 931GB.This explains why hard drives appear to have a lower capacity than advertised.A 1TB hard drive has the capacity to store 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Divide this by 1024 and you get 976,562,500KB. Divide by 1024 again and you get 953,674.3MB. Finally, divide by 1024 to get gigabytes and you end up with 931.32GB and so similar way you can calculate the process of 1 MB and 1024kb.

You can also use CrystalDiskInfo to confirm the disk model and capacity.

"Unfortunately, we had to cancel your order because it has exceeded our orderable quantity limits."
anyone else experienced the same?
Also, does anyone know if I can order another with the same credit card but mail it to a different address?
EDIT: Drive is runny 8 degrees C cooler when removed from that little plastic oven it comes inside.

Someone, in theory, can order this from BestBuy.com and swap the drive out, then taking it back to store to return it. However, My local BestBuy store asked for my driver's license when I returned a 12TB WD drive last time. The bad guy can still return it by mail by paying less than $10 return shipping and the swapped drive now goes back to a distribution center looks brand new and not been opened, the return center put it back to the inventory to ship to the next customer. There are no safe way unless WD pack the drive in those sealed plastic pack. You have to destroy the package to open it or this will continue to happen to all retailers.
In most, if not all, cases, CS associates at local store or return center see the top is sealed and they won't even bother to check the bottom of the package. They don't suspect an average Joe will swap out a drive.
