Yea. This is a dumbed down Best Buy version. Smaller battery and bad screen.

I was one of the ones who got it last time the deal came around... added a 2 x 8gb ram kit and a second 512gb SSD to get 1 TB total and it's a great machine really have nothing to complain about.

All these laptop deals. Ill probably be sticking with my g14 even though it was $200 more im getting a smaller and lighter form factor slightly better cpu double ram double ssd better battery life and 120hz. This one has a better non maxq graphics though and also a web cam

4800h actually performs similar or even better in some scenarios specially if it has to run longer. This is due to the lower wattage of the hs processor.

G14: 4800HS + 1650 same price 800$, G14: 4900HS + 2060 Max-Q price 1200$.

Haha omg I was just in the old thread and reading your message about adding the RAM there (I think it was you in the last page)

One dumb question - why did you replace the original 8GB with two 8GB instead of just adding an additional 8 or 16GB?

Bought this and tested it briefly when it was $899.00 back in August. Returned it because the screen just wasn't good compared to the HP Pavilion (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-p...=64091450) that was on sale for $749.00.

The reason is because I didn't want to have to worry about a mismatch on the MT/S (data rates), I wanted to get the full dual-channel 3200 mt/s performance. I'm sure I could have just made sure to match them up after getting the laptop but it was just easier and not much more expensive with an Amazon Prime day deal that I got to get a 16gb kit vs. how much it would have cost to buy a single, matching 8gb stick.
You could also just go for a single 16gb stick but it will only run dual channel for the first 16 gb and at whatever speed is the lowest common denominator of the sticks. So that might be an option if you need more than 16gb of ram. 16 is more than enough for me and it would have cost twice as much to get a single 16gb stick then the route that I went.
