For those wondering why EERO, I just did way too much research on mesh systems since 2 WFH parents, a kid distance learning, another kid sometimes watching streaming shows, and both parents sometimes streaming as well, that my tend a Nova which has pretty good single device speeds, was inadequate. I never needed more than 200/10 service before that.

A little TMI: 3.4k sf home, shaped like a Tetris T block, two stories. The main gateway is in the "nub" upstairs and in order to get to the ends of the T, especially the lower level, the signal has to go through quite a few walls. Even with mesh the far outer reaches were tough to get to.

In any event, I was going to get Wifi 6, then I wasn't, then I was. Read all of the reviews, dongknows, CNET, etc. etc. Learned a lot. Was checking out Costco, great deals on at TP Link Deco M9 plus (almost bought this), Deco X60, Netgear Nighthawk wifi 6 mesh, damn near bought the Netgear Orbi wifi 6, etc

Found reddit homenetworking, then Eero subs. Was about to go the Ubiquiti route, then looked into Eero a bit more. I wondered why everyone recommended either Ubiquity/TP Link EAP, or Eero? Two main reasons:

The way their wireless backhaul works. Dedicated backhaul sounds cool until that backhaul gets jammed up for whatever reason. Then it's not so cool, eh. Eero apparently can switch back and forth between bands (and if you have 3 bands than even better, although you need to be close to use the 5ghz bands). It does so seamlessly.

But I decided to go hardwire through my Coax (MOCA) so more important for me, was their SQM - smart queue management. It's like a higher level QOS that isn't really available on any other consumer level mesh/wifi system (some routers have it I think, but is not as advanced). This is really important for those with low upload speeds like me and a lot of cable systems. 10mb upload. But also if a device comes in and just hogs up all your bandwidth.

Search google for Eero SQM and see what I'm talking about. This gets more important as more wireless devices go online, including your TVs, tablets, phones, computers, ring cameras, alarm, etc. etc.

Another cool thing if you get the Pros (old Pros have it too, I think) is DFS which is some highly technical feature that scans frequencies to see if there is a quieter one than the normal channels. It's regulated so the Eero has to listen "passively" to ensure there are no weather or satellite signals in that frequency, and then it can use it, if it is better than the normal frequencies. It uses their automatic channel selection feature. Here I probably butchered that:
https://blog.eero.com/eero-now-supports-dfs/

Only the main gateway has to be a pro, and only the pros can do this.

In any event, go check out the Eero subreddit, listen to the founder and engineers (they participate a lot) discuss and respond, and see all the high level stuff they put into Eero that is mostly invisible to end users.

So I noticed, in tests Eero usually lagged behind other mesh systems and routers in single device speed. But who really needs 600mb/s on a single device? Not normal people. Some people maybe. How does the device perform with 30 devices on it at one time? When I have people over, that is not as far fetched.

So if benchmarking is your goal, Eeros don't always hold up as well. But if real usage with a lot of devices is the goal, its worth a serious look.

I brought it up last time and here is the source. They collect device MAC, IP, etc and other profiles.

Scroll to view it on the site.

I tried to apply the recycle coupon online last month on other Eeros and even spoke to Best Buy support but they couldn't do it. Instead, I bought online for in-store pickup and when I picked up I had them refund the purchase and apply the coupon on a re-buy.

hmm, I got the 3 pack on prime day for $124 after trade in, and I was going to supplement with 1 eero pro 6 for $229, which I was able to order for $185. Maybe I can sell the 3 pack for $150 and buy this 3 pack for $408.

Also, I believe the site says the item will be available 11/2, but the black Friday price might no be until later.

When does the eero Black Friday deal go live? On actual BF or before?

Note that the Eero Pro 6 is not yet HOMEKIT certified. They expect that in a future release but if you're planning to use this with Apple home automation devices you might have problems. One awesome benefit of the Eero pro is HomeKit support so I won't upgrade until that's ready/released/tested.

That doesn't say the deal is live on 11/2 right?

I am very inexperienced with this. Can someone tell me if this would help in either of my scenarios

Scenario #1 if it makes sense for me who doesn't have fiber available and can only get 30Mbps internet in my 1500 sq ft single story home to get this? Is it more stable? Will it make the furthest spots from my default att router/modem combo more stable?

Scenario #2 my parents do have fiber but they have their router in their garage/home office. They had ATT wire an Ethernet cable from the router all the way to their tv in the living room (which is much more centrally located) so they can direct connect their tv and can actually stream things. Can they instead direct connect that Ethernet wire to an eero or similar mesh WiFi and have it act as an extra router? Additionally does the eero have a method to direct connect their tv to it?
Any help is appreciated. I am usually fairly tech savvy but I don't have any experience with these mesh WiFi systems and am thinking it may be a solution for both me and my parents

Edit: in either case I am not looking at the 3 pack, just a single one.

Thoughts on this vs the Netgear Orbi AX4200 3-pack at Costco for $429?

1500 square foot, u don't need to get a mesh router. Any regular router would do the job just fine.

Eero Pro WiFi 6 3 pack will be $479. You should be able to stack the 15% network recycling coupon to bring it down to ~ $408.

Ok thanks. I didn't think so. But for the second scenario do you think it would make sense for my parents who have their router in the garage but can hardwire an eero to the router in the garage to act as their in home router?

That too and it might be possible to return it for $119 as well, at least that's what has worked for the amazon orders.
