This is a 2018 version and there seems to also be a 2020 version although I could not easily find the differences between the models.

IMO, cheaper YES. Better, NO.

Here's why.
1) Need to flip 8.5x11 papers to catch back side (if there is print on back side). This Fujitsu will scan BOTH sides in one pass!
2) Receipts from stores (grocery, Costco, Target, WrongMart) are EASY to scan due to the receipt slot and the feeding mechanism. Insert the stack of receipts, press scan, DONE! Eeee F'n Peasy. Easily scans the mile long CVS receipts in one pass!
All-in-One multi step process per receipt. 1)Lift cover. 2) place receipt. 3)Close cover. 4) Scan. 5) Open cover, remove scanned receipt. 6) Place next receipt to scan. 7) Repeat steps 3-6 for every receipt until done. 8) Long receipts have to scan in sections or cut receipt in half.

When you get this document scanner, you will be cursing yourself for cheaping out all these years. I have this exact model and speak from experience. Double sided scanners w/ receipt slot is a God send.

Xmas is coming. Buy this as a gift for yourself. You will be happy. I bought this exact model 3/2019 for $420 - $50MIR = $370. Current sale price OF $340 is obviously VERY GOOD!

We have a few of these in the office along with one of the older model ix-500 and one Epson DS-410. I find the Fujitsu software to be much more cumbersome to setup than the Epson and told myself I was only buying the Epson's moving forward.

That being said no issues with any of them to date oldest being ix-500 at 3.5yrs. Think I will hold out for a costco sale on another DS-410 which gets down to $220 every so often.

Why would someone get this over a regular flatbed scanner?

I would like to scan a ton of business cards I have, would this make it easy to scan into a crm system?

The most obvious reason is if you need to scan multiple pages. I'm not sure if a dedicated document scanner is any better than a doc scanner on an AIO but it looks to take up less room.

Not sure if the price is good or not, but the scanner should be very solid. (i have older version but still going strong) A few years back, I decided to go full paperless and scanned pretty much all the docs, saving them on the cloud. Never looked back. I don't use my fujitsu that often anymore but highly recommend to anyone who wants to go paperless.

Unless you run a business, that requires scanning multiple pages multiple times a day, buying a used document scanner on ebay is the way to go.

I got this around a year ago, and paid $399, which I thought was a nice deal (it's $499 regular). While this is an expensive office gadget, I'm so glad I got one. It has helped me become more paperless in so many ways. All receipts, bills, business cards, documents, kids art work, etc etc - they go through the scanner and straight into recycle bin or shredder. Such a blessing.

For those exploring this and other business scanners, I suggest getting a Raven. The scanner is solid with an easy to use touch screen interface. Their support is U.S. based and super easy to get in touch with if you have issues or enhancement requests. And, they offer unlimited cloud storage. I have been using their pro model for over a year and absolutely love it. I rarely give product endorsements, but this one is worth looking at before you settle on one.
