Can anyone really tell the difference between this fancy butter and Kirkland salted butter?

Like in a legit blind taste test?

After seeing this thread, i kept my eye out and found it at my costco. By stacking this right next to kirkland signature butter they pretty much negated the effect of this coupon. For $8 KS literally has 4 times the quantity (i realize this butter is claimed to be better)
If you think premium butter is expensive, a few years ago a fancy French-Japanese cafe in my local town started offering a version of their croissant made with real French echire butter for $1 more than their regular croissants. Delicious and flaky for sure as one might find in Paris, but $5 for one croissant.

More galling, the other two premium bakeries nearby then felt justified to raise their regular croissant prices to $5 even though they weren't using echire butter. The first cafe only lasted a few years, but our croissant prices at the other bakeries have been inflated ever since.

As a side note.... few months ago, Kirkland butter was around $7 for 4lb.

Apr-May -> 6:48 for 4 lb (Remember farmers were pouring milk into drain....)
Today -> 8.48 for 4 lb

My wife doesn't "spread" Kerrygold on toast, every morning she lays an 1/8" thick slice of it on top of inch-thick toast from premium white bread loaves she bakes herself, as high-end bakeries and boulangeries in the U.S. don't bother to make loaves of "white bread" like they do in her hometown of Tokyo.

I can't tell or taste much the difference between supermarket white bread and her bread, nor between Kerrygold and other butter, but she sure can! But I can tell the Kerrygold has a very different color, as well as texture (it's softer at fridge temp, vs the grocery butters are rock hard).

Euro butter has a slightly higher fat content and is cultured/fermented which gives it a more buttery and tangy flavor.

I cook alot and its the only butter I use. Costco always has the salted version in stock but never the unsalted for some reason. This is a fantastic deal and I am going to stock up for a long time.
My store has both, but come the sale... well, we'll see 😅

Well our Walmart only has a tiny grocery section, but when I have been in super walmarts in the past I've been generally underwhelmed by Walmart pricing. They have good regular prices, so are good for people who want specific things regardless of price. But as for me at a normal grocery store I essentially never buy anything that's not on a good sale, because most of the time I'm happy to buy the best deals and eat it. I can't say exactly what stores and when I've got it from, we have Hannaford, Shaws, Price chopper, and Market Basket. Shaws and PC specifically have a few coupons each week with pretty extreme discounts, which is probably how I've ended up with LoL at $2. But I know it goes for $2.50 on regular sales... Too rich for my blood when there are regular opportunities to stock up at $2 or less for decent quality (defined as cream and salt only) stuff.
LoL run 2 for 5 around 3 times a year (Easter, June, Thanksgiving) but rarely at Target unless there is a special promo event going on that Target will convince companies to join. Kroger and Meyer's are great places for 2/$5. Mostly you'll find 2/$7, but can drop it to 2/$6 with coupons. As said above, LoL black label is 'European Butter' and is very smooth + delicious. I highly suggest trying their new maple butter (great on toast) or their garlic butter (great on pasta). Kerry Gold is great butter, and once you start then you're not likely to go back to market pantry butter. Although LoL have done a great job with sustainability and giving back to local farmers, and their black label is very very good. Expect Land O Lakes to offer a Thanksgiving week promo 2/$5 or 2/$6 this week.

I'll have to look for this black label. Never heard of/seen it.

I bought 2 of the unsalted last time and have been trying to make it last! I saw this on the ad and marked for purchase! Perfect for holiday baking season!

Another note, I have been able to find the unsalted at my costco. There is a lot less of it in stock. There was a large section where they put their sale items but while walking around and heading into the dairy section, they had a small portion of it sitting with their salted. You just have to walk around and look with Costco...

It's a staple in my house. Make some warm toast and use this with some local berry jelly. Finger licking good, as they say.
