at that price it's better to have than nothing but I would suggest people spend $8 more and get one of the newer models with perfusion index (PI) and also handy the new ones have an alarm you can set if the pulse or spo2 goes below a certain number

PI tells you how good of a reading you are getting, it could show 96 but if the PI is like 2 or less, it's meaningless and you'd never know on this model

Any warranties that will cover burn-in for this? Is the OLED bright enough to use in a dark room?

NOT sold by Walmart.

Sold & shipped by Joybuy

Company has been shilled on forums before.
Hiding brand and seller info is shady shit.

also red flag that this quickly boosted to "Popular" and now down to 1TU... shill army propped it up no doubt.

Good price, unknown brand. An oximeter is one of those things that everyone ought to have on hand, especially with COVID. Low readings could be a sign of COVID. Absent other breathing problems, readings under ~94 could indicate a problem and under 90 should warrant a phone call. Also, now that we're all making greater use of telemedicine, it can be useful to have readings like this available for any televisit (along with weight and blood pressure).

Maybe this one is accurate, but many cheap oximeters have a fatal flaw: they're accurate at reading 90-100%, but give erratic results at lower levels, right where you need it most.

Alternatives: the ones from Contec are widely used and are a good reference point. CMS-50D is probably the best known. The CMS-50E is also good. The CMS-50D+ adds storage. Higher end units from Masimo are also good. For extended use, a wrist-based unit with a fingertip sensor is much better - the Contec CMS-50F is good.

I think it's worth to spend a bit more and get a branded one with good reviews. You really don't want an incorrect oximeter reading during covid.

one way to tell if you have a good spo2 meter is to compare if you get the same reading from different meters from different years

mine nicely all show the same numbers and the newer models with perfusion index basically tell you if the meter is working right in the first place, the higher the PI the better the reading

I would never ever, buy another meter without PI even if it was only $5

the ones I linked on ebay are basically the newest chip, every year there are some minor improvements, they've got it down to a science at this point

basically chip quality/year, IR led quality, IR detector quality is what it comes down to

now how long any of these last who knows, just like xmas tree led lights, I've had some go out in a few months, on the other hand I have a string that has been on 24/7 for the past DECADE without any light loss, so these meters are the same thing, you have no idea if the IR led is going to drop out after a year or use or ten years

oh they removed my ebay links

well no good deed goes unpunished, guess I'm not helping anymore

let me make this simple, if the meter doesn't have all these features, it's old using an old chip and not as sensitive or accurate as these new ones - also don't spend more than $15 because any of these meters might only work a few years at best
