How do they have so many of these?I bought nine when they went on sale because I'm so used to there being a shortage. I don't plan to getting around to my project for about two weeks. I only need 8 drives so 1 was if the drives didn't pass badblocks. I wonder if 16tb drops soon.

Would this work connected to a raspberry pi to stream 4k movies? My home network can't seem to keep up when streaming through plex from my pc.
Is the player wired in to your network? Your wireless may be too slow

Yes. I've tried streaming through my Roku and through my TV. Both connected through ethernet. Netflix 4k plays just fine from Roku tho. Maybe need to change a couple of settings in Plex??

Same as last week but that's cool so people get a chance at a big drive for a decent price. I stocked up last week. I was still hoping to see a 14TB around $170-$180 this BF though......

I heard the Easy store was the cheapest model and if I cared about my data I'd be better off with passport.
False. The internal drives are great, and you should have backups and redundancy in place no matter what drive you have.

I intentionally "missed" it because I knew there would be an amex bb offer coming and it did.
I intentionally did NOT miss it and simply had Best Buy do a return/rebuy... :-)

if you would have posted this last year at this time and asked the same question about 12TB drives and wondering if the 14TB drives would drop, the answer would have been "no"....

Welp after returning the 12tb from prime day after buying these last week, a small part of me wanted to hold out even longer for 16TB. But I think this post solidifies that this deal is gonna be it for this year, not that that's a bad thing!

How long did it take for you guys to use WD Tools to test the drive, and which test did you use? Anything better to use for testing before shucking?

I have two drives I need to test before shucking.

Your experience will be highly dependent on what you are using as your client as well.

Transcoding will often cause issues. AFAIK 4k HDR will not transcode colors correctly. Also, another member asked about a Raspberry Pi. It probably can't trancode well but I'm not sure about the newest version with lots of ram.
