In case anyone's interested, these drives pull 22w spinning up, 8w idle, and 9.5w active. This is as-plugged-in, without any APM configured.

Some of mine are still arriving. I'm running the WD tools. 20hrs each for testing. I figure it's worth the wait.
Do you guys use WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics' on these drives and it passed the Extended Test? I ran that test on the brand new 14TB drive as-is (not shucked) and about a day later I checked back on it and found it with the dialog that said "too many bad sectors detected". Behind the dialog the "currect sector" count was close to the end. So I'm not sure it was saying it found bad sectors throughout the drive and happened to stop at that point or whether it found bad sectors at the specific point near the end. The SMART info shows everything is good. I ran HDTune's test and it completed in about 8hrs with no issues though.

So I don't know what to make of the tests and hoping to find more data points on what kind of results others are getting. I wonder if the drive couldn't take a whole day worth of continuous testing (WD's test) whereas it only worked for about 8hrs in HDTune's test. Anyone got Bestbuy to replace their drives for failed tests on brand new drives like that?

Hard Disk Sentinel is my go-to for testing these drives before shucking. One WRITE-read surface test takes about 44-45 hours.

Seems like they have a linux version of Hard disk sentinel. I just need to learn the command line switches and options to use it

How do they have so many of these?I bought nine when they went on sale because I'm so used to there being a shortage. I don't plan to getting around to my project for about two weeks. I only need 8 drives so 1 was if the drives didn't pass badblocks. I wonder if 16tb drops soon.
They have been out of stock for months. Probably have been building up inventory for this event. They knew they would run them at this price once or twice before BF and probably will do it again before year end.
