Some of mine are still arriving. I'm running the WD tools. 20hrs each for testing. I figure it's worth the wait.
That tool does a surface scan for errors? Last time the tool I was using took a good 2 days so 20 hours sounds more ideal

The 14TB rang up for $259.99 for me but the thread says $189.

Is it 11/22 yet?

Look closer at the flyer.

It says "on page 6-22 starts on Sunday Nov 22".

This disk is on page 13. So you've got almost 3 weeks to wait.

Yes. I've tried streaming through my Roku and through my TV. Both connected through ethernet. Netflix 4k plays just fine from Roku tho. Maybe need to change a couple of settings in Plex??
What CPU is in your pc? Thats usually the issue if you hbe good enough wifi

Is the player wired in to your network? Your wireless may be too slow
It's the rpi that's the bottleneck.

If you're going for multiple 1080 transcode or a 4k transcode, you ought to seek out 8th gen Intel or better. Even an 8th gen Celeron will blanket a normal user household from Plex without a problem. The reason is the igpu and QuickSync in 8th gen made a huge leap forward.

Check out serverbuilds.net and his discussion about building QuickSync boxes.

Plex server can get super bogged down transcoding 4k if you don't have HW/GPU acceleration. I would just guess that your TV can't natively decode whatever format your source is in. Transcode is probably your bottleneck.

What tools do you use to test it?

I have a WD My Book 10TB. If I buy one of this, can I swap the drive in the My Book to have the 14TB encrypted via My Book's enclosure?
