Yes the S5 Max is a newer, more advanced vac than the Roborock S6 (Recent Slick Deal $419), particularly if mopping is important to you, because it has an electronic water tank that you can control from the app (for example to map your house into mop and no-mop zones). The S6 does not.
I would only consider the Roborock S5 Max (or the Deebot T8+ (recent Slick Deal $450) that some people love) if mopping (i.e., dragging some water across the floor) is important to you. If vacuuming is all you need, then consider the Roborock S4 (or S4 Max -- see above). Some people love the auto-empty feature of the Deebot, but it means you have a huge dock that you have to buy bags for, and change the bags instead of more frequently emptying the dustbin. Either way, you'll still want to frequently clean the roller brush under the vac, so no vac is truly auto-maintenance. In my experience 1,800 sq. ft. shouldn't clog up a dustbin if you vacuum with any regularity, but people with pets that shed heavily seem to be attracted to that auto-empty feature.
In case you haven't noticed, these things go on sale with some regularity. Pick the vac you want, set up a Deal Alert, and wait for the sale to come to you.

If you run it twice a week then your floors will be very clean. If you run it only when the floors are really dirty then it won't do very well. Schedule it and let it run.
The mop feature is okay, I like it. It's not perfect, and requires maintenance (gotta clean the mop every run) but it keeps the floors pretty clean. They won't sparkle but it's good enough.
One downside is I have to clean my wife's hair once a week from the wheels. That's not the vacuum's fault though. She just has long hair.
Highly recommend this little machine.
Also wondering about this. However, Black Friday is pretty close at this point. Two weeks. You wouldn't think they'd sell it for $439 two weeks before dropping it again to say $399 or something considering that's within almost everyone's return period. Thoughts? Thinking I'll just buy it and if it goes lower I'll return and re-buy I guess.
