Roborock S5 MAX Self Charging Robot Vacuum and Mop Cleaner Expired

These robot vacs mop lightly with water only, which I would never use on hardwood floors. IMO the Roborock S4 (recent Slick Deal $285) is the best vac for hardwood floors, but if you have multiple floors, or high thresholds to cross, or rugs that are plush pile, then I would opt for the new Roborock S4 Max (which supports multi-floor maps and has 0.2" higher clearance than the S4). OR if it's on sale get the Roborock S6 Pure which is similar (recent Slick Deal $360) but ads rudimentary mopping features that you may choose to use or ignore.
Yes the S5 Max is a newer, more advanced vac than the Roborock S6 (Recent Slick Deal $419), particularly if mopping is important to you, because it has an electronic water tank that you can control from the app (for example to map your house into mop and no-mop zones). The S6 does not.
I would only consider the Roborock S5 Max (or the Deebot T8+ (recent Slick Deal $450) that some people love) if mopping (i.e., dragging some water across the floor) is important to you. If vacuuming is all you need, then consider the Roborock S4 (or S4 Max -- see above). Some people love the auto-empty feature of the Deebot, but it means you have a huge dock that you have to buy bags for, and change the bags instead of more frequently emptying the dustbin. Either way, you'll still want to frequently clean the roller brush under the vac, so no vac is truly auto-maintenance. In my experience 1,800 sq. ft. shouldn't clog up a dustbin if you vacuum with any regularity, but people with pets that shed heavily seem to be attracted to that auto-empty feature.

Bought this on prime day and it's a game changer! I run it on a schedule every morning. We have 3 cats in the house and it picks up so much cat hair and dust every day through a ~1600 sq foot house. Mop feature is decent. I have a spray bottle filled with floor cleaner that I use on the microfiber pad and fill up the water tank with distilled water. The floors aren't spotless but it does a decent job and leaves the house smelling great with the floor cleaner.

I have both and like the T8+ better. Even without the auto empty. The T8 is smarter in that it slows down as it approaches obstacles and either bumps slightly or avoids them completely. The S5max is effective, but bumps aggressively and even climbs over one of my office chairs and gets stuck. I'm afraid it might damage furniture. I run both on max power and can't tell the difference in suction power.
