Maybe not a big deal for a casual DIYer but it piqued my interest due to its zero clearance slide which allows it to be placed against a wall without interference.

Anyone who cares about Zero Clearance miter saw, probably don't use one that much.
These things make a HUGE mess cutting Anything.. Do it outside. The time you have to spend clearing your garage wall of dust is LONGER than just picking it up and taking it to the yard.
If you make the cut in the garage and not have a setup to deal with the saw dust, then......
I generally don't need things to be super super accurate, and like my current Hitachi saw (only trying to find a replacement for it because I overtorqued the reverse-threaded screw holding the blade in place by trying to turn it the wrong way, and now can't remove the blade), but I'm pretty concerned by the reviews that mention a poorly fitted/made part causing slop in the saw's accuracy.
I got the ryobi deal as well. But now I m thinking if I should get the Lowes Blk Friday Dewalt 12"compound for 199, simply cause it can cut 4 by 4 in one pass, but it's non-sliding ...
Never heard of this brand. Seems like folks like it?
It's just Hitachi. The power tools division of Hitachi was sold a couple years ago, but the new owners didn't get the name. Since they also own the higher end Metabo tool company, they chose to rename "Hitachi Power Tools" to "Metabo HPT".
90% of a crap ton, is still a crap ton. It's just the nature of Miter saws, dust collection is crap period. no matter what you do about shrouds.
Tell that to all the professional woodworkers with stationary miter saw stations, and decent dust collection. Heck festool (if you want to spend a lot) makes a sliding miter saw with near 100% collection.
If your doing rough construction grade cuts, outside is fine. But I'm not gonna be cutting my fine hardwoods out in the driveway. Not gonna have a sufficiently accurate fence or support system.
Most cheaper miters do have bad dust collection out of the box, but mods can improve it greatly. Also depends on your dust collector suction power.

He's just an antagonistic troll. I've got a hood/port set up and there is very little dust. I do this for a living and highly doubt he even has a miter box.

It's just not worth the time to build, put it on a cart, take it outside.
