I'll be able to test next week, as I use Tello (currently on Sprint).. they are planning to migrate everyone to TMobile, so my expectation is that it won't work while its a Sprint based reseller, but it will work when its a TMobile based reseller.

I have a few denied trade in with them.
One of the denied device was said to not have been reset.
This was a brand new Moto E phone for $10 I bought from Wal-Mart just for the trade in.
I would take pictures and videos of your device if doing trade in with Samsung.
But in your case it's a big risk as your phone is really defective phone.
