And just to confirm, I had called the CSR after opening the account and they had confirmed that I used the promo code.

You may very well still get a bonus, or you may not, but if you didnt do an actual DD, you might not have an argument to put to the CS.
EDIT: DD is also coming up as Electronic Transfer but this is what people at DoC are pointing out, that some codes might not work, read the comments there, from the last $300 bonus deal, some people DID NOT get the bonus with some ACH transfers.
Some would put DD, ACH, PSP, Transfer, ACH Transfer, ACH TRAN, etc, while others would put some garbage or even your name. Amazon sellers, for example, gets their payment like this:
Deposit from AMZNQMD5400S Marketplac
Memo
Marketplac
Now tell me, is "Marketplac" coded as a different type of transaction or is it just a name that has no significant to how transactions are coded?
Another example when you initiate the transfer from Discover Bank:
Deposit from DISCOVER BANK PREARRANGE
Memo
PREARRANGE
At this point you should start to understand that the name and the memo means nothing to them. If you were the programmer at Cap1, would you be looking for ACH and DD using the name to figure out who gets the bonus?
So how is it coded in their system? If you are a technical person, you can open Developer Tools on your browser, go to Network and look at the XHR behind the scene. That's the only way anyone can know besides the IT guys at Cap1.
One thing I forgot to mention in previous posts, is that there IS a difference if you initiated the transfer from Cap 1, or from the external bank. Cap 1 can easily exclude the bank transfers initiated from their end, because they have all the records. If they are initiated from the external bank, they are ACH and they will be counted.
1. I wanted to add my wife as a joint account holder after opening the account -- their website would create an email invitation which my wife then clicked on and after filling out all of your information, it says "Congratulations on opening a NEW Checking Account with Capital One!"
Complete IDIOTS whoever programmed this website. It took them 3 days to fix the issue.
2. I added an external account to be able to make external transfers. I verified the account with the 2 deposits they made. You think I'm able to make transfers? NOPE. The account won't show up on the drop down and under account services, it still shows the account needing being verified. After re-verifying it, it continues to give you the same message saying "you've already verified the account." When you all customer service, they tell you that in their system it's not verified. Another technical ticket I've had to open.
3. Customer service is horrendous. They refuse to acknowledge there is technical issues with their website -- instead, their answer to everything is "have you tried it in Chrome? Safari isn't supported." Who the *** makes a bank website and doesn't support the Safari browser?!
Seriously, who built this website!? utter garbage. What a disaster. I am not holding my breath for this $400 - I am almost 100% convinced there will be some technical issue that will prevent many / most people from getting it.
/rantDone.
I have never had a bank account with them.
I have a credit card with them already.

very sketchy bank service so far.
Code was confirmed when applying. Should be good there. Will have to call to setup an online account, ya know since they dont give a damn confirmation or anything.
made the mistake of not saving my checking account information. Capital One's website is not listing the checking account under my social security look up.
This is so sketchy. Hopefully no credit check and call customer service in the morning. Since they have ZERO after-hours customer service. What kind of bank has no after-hours hotline?
