2 things..

The so called 120Hz is a gimmick .It's basically a 100Hz monitor.

Newegg is terrible as a seller. I've shopped there for years and now stick to Amazon/Bestbuy instead as NewEgg is a pain to deal with returns and they charge restocking fees even for defective items.

Lukewarm deal at the very best.
Monoprice products are very good. This monitor in of itself is very good for what it is, for sure. Completely agree with you that I would not get it from Newegg. Restocking fees and all that are garbage.
Took the dive and nabbed one after reading this. i generally trust toms hardware.

I got this last time (few weeks ago) through Walmart being they have a better return policy. It's a really great monitor if 100hz is all your after. Says you can OC to 120hz, but it just skips frames if you do, so not really effective. I'm returning this as I got a 144hz instead and I have until mid January to shop around still with this one from best buy. I'm actually curious how much these will be for open box at the end of BF/CM. Hoping for a 144hz and 1ms for under $350 sometime soon.

Out of the two I would buy the Dark Matter one due to the higher refresh rate.

However, I would not buy either monitor from newegg. I would wait for this item to be on sale on Monoprices own website.

I have been a shopper at Newegg for 10+ years and have never had any issues with them in the case of returns or replacements. In fact I once purchased a $2,200 dollar laptop from them and it just quit working about a week outside of their return window. They worked with me and since I had been a customer for so long they couldn't give me a refund but did give me an exact amount gift card instead as I was going purchase something else from them as the replacement anyways. Newegg will work with you and make things right. Just don't go into it being an ass hat about things.

Fair point. I took a chance on it two years ago and am completely happy with it. I don't game, however, I use it as a floating work monitor and it's never given me any trouble at all, despite being used 8+ hours per day.

According to the comments they are both 4ms, dark matter is 1ms VBR which is a marketing gimmick

I would spend the extra $50 for the 144hz. As others said, F Newegg in the A.

He means 144 versus 120/100
