Not really, these days -- covid and inflation and all. I bought the Strat @ 539 a month back and am generally pretty happy with it.

I have a MIM fat strat from mid 90s ( if memory serves)

....wondering ....have they gotten better or worse or about the same?

I believe it was called artic white and was white back then.... but now is more of a yellowish tint cream color.

Fyi adorama had this for $479 last year. I'll bite if they have it for that price again.

Guitar center just filled for bankruptcy, so I'm pretty sure they'll be having some big sales before Christmas. For the same price or a little more, I'd much rather buy from GC for free local returns/exchanges in case I get a dud

MIM quality was pretty hit or miss in the 90's. The current Player series is a step above the previous Standard series, and the QC is higher. I never liked the old neck profiles, so to me, they are light years better.
