This seems to be the going Black Friday price for the speakers across the board. The store acoustic sound design has them for the same price, with a 15% off coupon, and no tax at least in my state. Code is TV15 - comes out to like $295 for me.

You really don't need good speakers for heights. They are just for effects rain airplanes ect. In walls are good enough.

These are the ones to get over the 140SA. These you can turn off the Dolby Atmos crossover which introduces peaks and nulls at certain frequencies with a switch on the back setting from Atmos to surround and then mount these as front and rear heights. Also larger drivers and more watts than the 140SA

You don't want audible distortion, even with a high crossover, and don't want a different brand with a different sound signature to be able to localize while movie watching though. There can be some loud sounds sent to the top speakers and you want them to be crystal clear.

Yep - this is actually the better/best deal on these - so far. I bit...I'm replacing the 140 SAs I just bought on the Adorama deal...probably sell them and recoup what I can.

Oh...I was happy with them...but the price on the 500's was good and they *do* sound quite a bit better. I'll most likely be able to get most of what I paid for them back, which will then almost pay for the 500's.

I think I'll be happier with the 500's. I've always tweaked my sound systems...
